Reinstall Logos 6

I am having a problem with logos 6 crashing when trying to open on my MacBookPro.
I want to reinstall it but don't want to loose all of my Platinum library and thus have to download it. I found instructions for installing, but can't find any instructions for re-installing. Can someone point me int the right direction?
Thank you
Jac

All you do to reinstall Logos is to drag a fresh copy of the app to the Applications folder. Don't delete anything else (like the stuff in the Applications Data folder) and you'll be fine.
If that does not fix your issue, please post your logs. See my signature line at the bottom for how to do that.
EDIT: You can also try starting with a blank layout. Click on the icon to launch Logos, then hold down on the command key. You'll get a window where you can open Logos with a blank layout. If this works, you'll have to rebuild your layouts.

Reinstalling typically won't fix a CRASH, so most of the time that is pointless. If you have read in the forums over the past several months the advice to reinstall the app, that wasn't due to a crash, but rather the app never opened at all. If that is the issue you are having, a reinstall should fix it... again, but only if that is the issue.

The resource files, your index, notes, etc are NOT kept with the application, which is why reinstalling the app rarely fixes a crash. If the problem is with a corrupt resource file, database, or setting, those stay in place when you delete the app... hence my "pointless" comment above. If the issue actually IS with the app, reinstalling is pointless if the issue is a bug (until a fix comes in an updated version) since you will simply be reinstalling the broken version.
If you are getting a crash, loading to a blank layout as Integ suggested is a good first step. If that doesnt work, you will need to provide logs OR call customer service. For logging instructions, see my signature line.

Loading with a blank layout did work. Fortunately I found a past layout which is close to what I am doing now, and it works. None of my other layouts work. Home page works too. So layouts are definitely the problem. Now have to reconstruct them, but at least we are up and running. Anyway to backup layouts? Thanks so much.

They are automatically backed up, but occasionally they become corrupted. In which case you will need to rebuild the layout. A "backup" of a corrupted layout is still a corrupted layout.

How do you tell when a layout is corrupted?
My layouts tab loads very slowly (>=60s), and I suspect that's due to a corrupted layout somewhere in the library. I've tried deleting layouts (each delete operation takes >=60s, too), but that didn't work.
Am I right in supposing that rebuilding a layout would mean starting from a blank layout (rather than some supposedly good template layout)?

There is no user-available mechanism to do that - most people who are concerned about a layout would delete it and start again

Can you post a screenshot of your layout? It would be interesting to know, for example, if it includes lots of complicated searches.

Yes
To explore this further - recognising that this is an old thread - I suggest you start a new thread in the Logos 6 or 7 forum (depending on what version you have) and outline the issues you are experiencing.

It crashes Logos. That isn't your issue. Graham asked some good questions, but please create a new thread. Explain your issue clearly and provide logs (see my signature line).
