Experiencing an issue on iPad - a few resources will not show up up when I try to open them.  They are listed in my library, I download & install, then tap to open and see a blank screen with the book title at the top.  I have deleted and re-downloaded.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Logos app.  My support request was answered by someone who said to ask for help in the forum.

    Hello,

What version of iOS are you using, and which version of the app?

Unfortunately we no longer support our apps on iOS 7 or iOS 8.

Please see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/124552.aspx for last year's announcement regarding iOS 7, and http://community.logos.com/forums/p/133038/864542.aspx for the iOS 8 announcement.

Since I spent a couple days trying to figure this out, I thought I'd update for any other users seeing this in their search results.  It appears that the answer to problems in older versions of iOS is that a hardware upgrade is required.

Logos free support (https://www.logos.com/support/free-support) is tied to the relatively short life cycle of the mobile OS.  Logos released its last app for iOS7 around March 2016, 1.5 years after Apple began selling iOS 8 devices, and dropped support for iOS8 in November 2016, less than 14 months after Apple stopped selling iOS8 devices.  Thus the support timeline for the Logos App on iOS is even shorter than the minimum 2-year phone contract cycle.

As I am now discovering, "Unsupported versions do not receive updates and may not read the latest resource files. Web services that are only used by Unsupported versions may be discontinued without notice. Documents and settings created in an unsupported version may not sync to the latest versions of the software."  Users like me probably won't mind not having access to the features that come with a continually-improving Logos app, but should be warned that we may not be able to read any resources purchased after the initial release of each Logos version.

The free support page mentions at the bottom "Yes. You can continue to buy additional resources, but resources released or updated after April 8th 2014 may not be compatible."  There does not appear to be a way to determine (prior to purchasing) whether a given book/resource will be viewable on a device not running the latest OS.

    Hi Jason

There does not appear to be a way to determine (prior to purchasing) whether a given book/resource will be viewable on a device not running the latest OS.

This is a real dichotomy for the most part the desktop machines can be upgraded to take versions of the software for much longer than tablet devices and there is really no way of Logos knowing which devices a user intends access them on.

I imagine that you could, for instance use Logos Cloud, rather than the Logos App, to view your material even with the device you now have? You should definitely be able to access it via your desktop system.

    Logos 5.2.3

    iOS 7.1.2

Which ipad do you have? Seeing that you are already running iOS 7 shows that you have at last an iPad 2. That one can updated to iOS 9 for free without any required hardware update.
