The section on the Egyptian language in the "Languages" article in AYBD
The section is Egyptian Language and Writing, D. Phonology. roughly a page in or so, we find the sentence:
"The earliest states of the language display 24 consonants, transcribed as follows..."
From there the consonant system of Egyptian is give phonetically.
But there's a problem. A font problem. The first consonant listed, as appearing on the iphone/ipod touch is a teddy bear face. And it is used quite a bit in the following discussion. And to make things more complicated, on library.logos.com it appears as a box () and also in Logos 4 it appears as a box (). Only in Libronix 3 does it appear -- but trying to copy & paste it doesn't work and ends up with a box.
Anyway, FYI: Font problem.
