When I opened my computer today I had 1,407 Chinese spam posts in my inbox. Needless to say, we are not amused!

I was discouraged by the same thing but fortunately they were all removed quickly.
Why did fgh get then in his in box + I did not??
Different forum subscriptions??
I'm seeing the spam again...!
Again, one of the easiest ways to mitigate (but not eliminate) this problem is to limit how many new threads a newly created account can create within a given time frame. Most forums do something like that.
Spam again today. Spam spam spam.
There's quite a bit of typical forum functionality, administrator-side and user-side alike, that are not available on these forums, or are not possible in the forum software. I have my own pet peeves about this, but that's only one man's opinions.
This is what my screen looks like
I hope the Spammers noticed they could get 45% off Carson & Wright!
Apologies, everyone. We are considering different options.
Electronically prohibit new users (<1 month? <100 posts?) from posting >1 post an hour?
That would only lead to the spammers creating 1000 new users to send their 1000 spam posts, and make it even more difficult to clean up...
Perhaps this will lighten things up-

How is this work going? I see this happening day after day still. I use RSS and it makes it harder to find the real posts in the forum. I know others use email and are probably getting flooded. I see 37 of these posts in the last 24 hours.
They follow such regular patterns that it should be very, very easy to eliminate this.

I do know that a number of measures have already been implemented, which have now been circumvented.
^ This step would eliminate the two pages' worth of spam presently on the forum, without interfering with legitimate users' usage.

I don't know if this exists now or not... but I do know that "exploratory" accounts ARE created in the forums. These post seemingly real or innocuous posts. Days or weeks later; BAM! [:s]
