Logos vs Faithlife iOS apps

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered. I looked but did not see anything newer than 2012 with an answer.

Is there any real difference/advantages of the Logos app or the Faithlife app on iOS? I have both and use the Logos app because I use Logos on my computer. It seems that for people with a Logos library the apps do the same thing, by bringing up the same reference materials simply because they are already in your Logos library.

So, am I missing something that one app has that the other does not? If so, what is the reason for having 2 apps that do the same thing? I assume the Faithlife app is for folks without Logos?

When you mention the "Faithlife" app do you mean the Faithlife Study Bible app or the Faithlife app?

The former is designed to provide access to your resources and particularly to link the Biblical text to the Faithlife Study Bible. One of the things you will see in this app is that the screen is always split in two and - by default - has the FSB displayed.

There are additional apps as well - Verbum, Noet, Vyrso - being the main ones to access your resources.

Each of them - as well as the Logos and Faithlife apps - provides access to the same set of resources but support different features and functions.

The Vyrso app - for example - is mainly designed as an ereader and doesn't have support for some of the tools available in the others.

The Logos Bible app and the Verbum app are similar with the Verbum one providing access to some additional Catholic resources (I think)

If so, what is the reason for having 2 apps that do the same thing?

One of the reasons I use multiple apps is if I want to be reading / studying some resources in one and then want to look at other resources without disturbing what I have open there.

Does this make sense / help at all?

Sorry I did mean the FSB app not the social church group Faithlife app.

That does help, thanks. I suppose that is why I encourage the folks in our church to download the FSB app and I use the Logos app when I want to research something in a hurry and don't have my computer in front of me. Thanks Graham

FSB has fewer options than Logos but it has more media options and in someways may seem easier to use. FSB for example lacks passage guides.

As I spent more time with them, I can definitely see how the FSB app has a greater emphasis on being social while the Logos app is more for study. We setup a church group on Faithlife, and I see how I can share easily from the FSB app to our church group That is a valuable difference in that regard.

I feel like the FSB app is great for non Logos users while the Logos app fits my quick lookup needs from a mobile platform.

I have a question about the column divider in Logos vs. FSB. In FSB I can have the divider horizontally across the screen which is my preference. In Logos it is vertical and I can't seem to move it to horizontal. Is it a "feature" in Logos that it is only vertical?

You can't explicitly switch it - but it does depend on orientation.

On my iPad, for example, in landscape mode the divider is vertical whereas in portrait mode it is horizontal.

Thanks! Yes, that is what I was finding as well. However in FSB I can have my iPad in Landscape mode but with a horizontal divider. Was hoping Logos worked the same way but looks like not so. Thanks for the reply.

The FSB app was designed with the study bible in mind. Bible on top, notes on bottom. The last time I used the app (years!), the lower pane could not be eliminated.
