Is it possible to download Mobile Ed videos to Android?
I've regularly had problems with Mobile Ed videos not loading. Today's problem seems to be server maintenance, but that doesn't account for the problems in the past when about 10% or more of the time there are problems (I have a great broadband and wifi connection though). Is it possible to download the Mobile Ed videos to an Android device to view them without the buffering and non-loading problems?

Yes, it is possible. Go to the resource in the Logos app on the android device. Look up "book info" (click on the three doted icon in the top right corner).
From the book info panel, click on media download to see a list of the videos and pick those you want to download.
Videos would probably use up a lot of space though.

I would think that most Android users would not want to download videos because of the space they take.
Hi Francis, that doesn't include any of the videos. I just downloaded a Mobile Ed resource there now and it completed the download in 3 seconds.A quick check by activating Airplane mode and trying to run a video showed that it hasn't downloaded any videos. Deactivating Airplane mode gets it starting to load a video again. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I'm seeing it doesn't work as well.
Did you go into the media downloads area to download the actual videos?
You should be able to download the main resource for the course and individual videos. On my Android phone the videos seem to download but they wont plan in airplane mode.

Yes, John, you need to download the videos not just the course. It should not just take 3 s. You can pick which videos you download from where I indicated. You can also remove them afterwards from the same place.

Thanks for pointing me to the media downloads area - I wasn't aware that that existed. I managed to get a video playing, and it kept playing when I switched to Airplane mode. I haven't tried to start a video in Airplane mode, though, like you did.
It's just a shame that the Android system won't allow me to move the app to the SD card any longer, as that would allow all the videos to be saved with plenty of memory space still spare. At the moment, though, I'll just download several at a time instead of all the videos.
Thanks for your help.

Francis, I initially didn't read your post properly, as I didn't know or notice that there was a media downloads area was different from downloading the resource. I got some downloaded now. Thanks for your help.

Graham, I tried to play the downloaded videos in Airplane mode, but they would not start. It seems that the app requires an internet connection before it will allow even the downloaded media to play. This is not helpful at all, since there will be times when there is no internet connection, such as when travelling. I even tried forcing the app to close, going into Airplane mode and then launching the app again, to see if it would work from scratch without an internet connection - the results were the same. That's disappointing as I was intending to catch up on listening to some of the videos on a journey soon. But at least when the internet connection is established (for whatever reason), the videos play without problem since they are not being streamed but played from the local memory storage location.
