Two resources not linking

when I click a work in the Greek text

To clarify - do you mean "double click"?

it does not link through into the Complete word study dictionary which i have open beside it

What does happen instead?

Having it open doesn't determine what happens.

Double-clicking a Greek word will open your highest prioritised lexicon which has an entry for that word

It has worked once or twice but generally doesn't work.

For which words does it work and for which doesn't it?

excuse my ignorance!

I have the NA27 text open and beside that the Word Study New Testament Dictionary.

When I hover over a work in the greek text, nothing happens
When i single click, nothing happens.
When I double click, the Power Lookup opens up with the Greek word at the top, and nothing else in it.
The Word study Dictionary does not move at all.
I am not sure what happened the few times it seemed to work, but I have just checked a lot of words that are clearly in the dictionary, but there is no apparent link.

I have the Word Study New Testament Dictionary prioritised in my library.

Hi Sam

What you describe sounds very strange!

It's almost as though there is an issue with your mouse - double clicking, for example, should update the dictionary entry (which Power Lookup should track) but it shouldn't open the Power Lookup tool.

What happens if you right-click a word in the NA27, ensure that the lemma is selected and then click "Look up" on the left hand side of the menu? Does the dictionary update to the correct place?

when i right click on a word in the NA27 and go to lookup, again the dictionary doesn't move, and the power lookup opens with the greek word at the top and the rest of the box blank.

I'm sorry I don't understand what is going on here! It may be something specific to the resources in the AMG essentials package

Let's try and eliminate the NA27 from this.

Please:

right-click on a word in the NA27
ensure the lemma is selected on the right-hand side
click "copy" on the left
close all resources
enter "look up" into the command box and then paste in the lemma you have just copied
press enter

What opens - a dictionary or the Power Lookup tool?

Is this anything to do with me being on the basic version??

When I contacted Logos customer service earlier I made them aware of that but they directed me to the forum as they couldn't explain it.

I wanted to see how software worked before purchasing a base package.

It should work even with the Basic version but it looks as though the command isn't being recognised.

Ive got to go out but will check back later.

The command you are trying to enter is using the inflected form of the word (διανοίγων) rather than the lemma form of the word (διανοίγω). Try the lookup command again with the lemma form.

Also, open the About Logos Bible Software page from the help menu. Scroll through the list of support information on the left side of the page and find the entry for DB:LEMMAS and paste it here. It should look something like:

on the first point, yes that has worked fine and brought the dictionary up.

Here is the entry from the About section:-

Can you open the information panel on the NA27 resource you are using (the "i" button in the top right corner of the panel), scroll down to the bottom, copy the Support Info, and paste it here?

Also, would you be able to get a screenshot of what your right-click menu looks like when you right click on one of the words in that resource?

Unfortunately, the resource you are using is not tagged with lemma data. This is why there is no lemma listed on the right side of your right click menu. That means it's impossible to do the lookup using the lemma, and the system instead attempts to look it up using the surface text. This possibly works in situations where the surface text of the word is the same as the lemma form. Otherwise, this will fail, as most dictionaries require use of the lemma for lookup.

Yes - but so do some NA27 editions

If you are thinking of purchasing additional Greek New Testaments - it's worth looking at getting a base package that includes it and seeing how the pricing compares

The NA28 with morphology supports lemmas, but is only available through other packages (listed on the right side of the linked page). The NA28 GBS also supports lemmas, but not the Critical Apparatus edition which is part of the linked package.
