Logos 4 on Windows 7 vs. Vista. Any speed difference?

i can't upgrade my hardware due to budget constraints, but I could afford the Windows 7 update. Anyone know if it helps with Logos 4 speed issues?

My systems:

Toshiba laptop, 4 Gig ram, AMD Turion x2 dual core mobile RM-72 2.10 Ghz, Windows Vista Home Premium service pack 2. 320 Gig hard drive

Hp desktop – XP professional SP 3, 3 Gig ram, AMD 64 X2 dual core 2.18 ghz., 250 gig HD

Windows 7 runs much better than Vista. Whether this translates to Logos I don't know. But I highly recommend moving over to it. We have installed it for a bunch of clients and they are very happy with it

I noticed a good improvement in speed when I went from Vista to Windows 7 64-bit. I have 4 GB of RAM and wanted to be able to use all of it, thus 64 bit.

Here is the content of a forum post I made on that issue:

Let me report on the progress I've made over the past couple of days in getting much better responsiveness from Logos 4.

I started with Vista, 4MB of RAM, and a 5400 RPM HDD on a laptop
using a Core2Duo 2.0 GHZ processor. I timed right click menu opening
times for two words in the same NT passage in the NASB having first set
the tab option to Lemma. After a warmup run to be sure the software was
loaded into memory, I timed how long it took for the menu to open
completely. The average was between 10.5 and 12 seconds.

I next moved Logos 4 to a second HDD that ran at 7200 RPM. Right
click times then ran from 7.5-10 seconds, an improvement of about 25%.

Last, I replaced the 5400 RPM drive with another 7200 RPM drive, and
installed Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit version. Right click times are
now in the 2-2.5 second range.

In other words the combination of a faster HDD and migrating to W7
resulted in a four-fold decrease in right-click times. Everything in
Logos is now much more responsive, and is finally usable.

s 15% - 20% faster depending on the benchmark. Not that this translates to every function being faster like that, but I have been extremely pleased with Windows 7.

There are many speed up improvements you can do to it too, here are some good ones at this site. I especially recommend trying the Ready Boost service if you have a current USB memory stick, it basically adds memory to your PC to be used as a cache. Logos 4 seems somewhat graphics intensive, so the tips here to turn off some of the eye candy will help a lot too.

Yes I did - on 4 different family PCs in fact. Did not have a problem. I could not recommend Windows 7 more highly, IMHO it's the best job Micorosoft has ever done with an OS.

The first thing I did was move from 5400 to 7200 RPMs. Then I moved from Vista to Windows 7. The first numbers reported were with 5400 RPMs and Vista.

My estimate is that moving to Windows 7 without the change in HDD would have yielded about 25% improvement in speed (for the feature I tested).

I agree with this, but perhaps because my last OS was Vista. I really don't have much trouble with XP (on a couple of church machines), but can't compare it speed-wise with Windows 7 as I can Vista.
