Friday, 6/23/2017: Mobile Ed: OT312 Book Study: Deuteronomy

This Mobile Ed course has finally broken through. It is currently at $100, but it looks like $90 is a sure thing. I have purposely avoided putting the strike price in the title of this thread so that as the price comes down the thread will remain relevant.
PLEASE DO NOT LOWER YOUR BIDS! Doing so does not give you a lower cost. In fact, it may cost you money since the price line will be depressed at higher values and make the product appear less valuable. We want it to look like a really good deal in order to attract further bids.
This is a great buy at $100. You will be getting 20 hours of lecture for $5/hr. That said, let's get the price lower!

A more significant issue is that lowering a bid can cause the successful current price to no longer be fully funded, which means it can't enter production.
Once it's closing soon, the only way to get the resource at a lower price is additional (new) successful bids. FL points this out in their email:
"The final price for this product will be lower for everyone if we receive enough new bids before the closing date, so please spread the word to anyone you know who may be interested in this."
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

everyone KEEP bidding $105 it will get down to $90 soon

$100 is no longer fully funded [:(]
Please don't lower a successful bid to an unsuccessful bid, in the hope that your lower bid will become successful.
A bid for $100 is already also a bid for every lower amount -- lowering your bid is not adding another (new) bid to the lower amount. But lowering your bid does pull support from higher prices, causing them to drop/lose funding.
The only way to lower the price is to get new successful bids, which comes from promoting the CP with others who haven't bid yet. The more people who bid (successfully), the lower the cost per person!

Would another way to lower the price be for those with "unsuccessful" bids to raise their bids to a "successful bid" (someone with a $80 bid changing it to $100)? If I understand this process correctly (which may not be the case), if the "unsuccessful" bidders (under $100) all raise their bids to a "successful' bid ($100), then that potentially lowers the final price.

People are free to choose to place the bid they want to make. Someone may have bid $100 say, after listening to advice such being giving here with the belief the title would not actually cross the line at $100. Now that it has and they are actually not willing to pay $100 they are simply adjusting their bid so that it is in line with what they are willing to pay. They may have even decided to remove their bid completely. That is their free choice to make. We all need to be careful we are respecting that choice.

Yes, that's correct, Mark. It would count as another (new) successful bid, helping to potentially lower the final price for everyone.

Yes that may potentially result in the price dropping to $90 if those people make the choice to increase their bid. It will certainly make a contribution to forcing the price down.

I shall be keeping my bid at $180 safe in the knowledge it will close at half that price or even lower. Not bad for twenty hours of video lectures.

People certainly are free to bid what they want. But if someone bid $100, but is only willing to pay, say, $80, then that bid for $100 has always been working against them. When it crosses the line way above $80, it may never get down to $80.
If it crossed the line at $80 instead of $100, then they're not only going to get it for $80, they probably will get it for less than $80, because more people would pay $80 instead of $100.
People should bid the most they're willing to pay, instead of trying to get it to cross the line at a much higher amount, and fighting the clock hoping to get enough bidders to drop it down to their price. Bidding too high is risky for everyone, because those bids get cancelled (making it harder to lower the price), and funding drops (making it harder to get it into production).

There have been a few cases where Faithlife have decided to go with the original closing date and bid price despite the project no longer being quite 100% funded.
If this were to be the case for OT312 then anyone bidding below $100 would miss out.
We can hope that enough people will jump on board to push the $90 mark above 100%: there are six more days left so it is possible, but by no means guaranteed if people continue to pull out.

86.7% discount or 88% discount. Really! some would say no to 86.7% off because they might have had 88%. Bid green unless you are just not interested or able.

Lets keep going $85 or even lower could be possible.

I agree, I have been in CP from the very beginning. And for these reasons I am saying we need to be careful not to tell people how much to bid. We are all customers, none of us are sales people so let's talk to one another like customers and talk about the implications of bidding at different price points and what happens when we change those bids but lets do so in general terms to educate rather than to direct people to bid a certain amount. People will be turned off if you act like a salesperson and try to tell what to do.
I would llike to see these all go out at as low a price as possible but at the end of the day whether it is $100 or $90 or $85 it is still a great deal and I appreciate FL giving these titles an opportunity on CP before putting them into prepub.

This Mobile Ed course is right on the verge of $90!! Just a few more bids at $90, or above, should put it over. Let's get this at $90 for this weekend to give us a full week to add more bids and get the price down even further.
Remember, if you have already bid greater than $90, then that is great. Lowering your bid at this point won't make $90 any more likely.

I can't believe that it has not passed $90. Who is going to be the bid that lowers it? We are so close!

It has remained at $90, this time. It would be nice to get it down to $80 by Friday by adding more bids.
PLEASE DO NOT LOWER YOUR BIDS! A lower strike price is not achieved by people lowering their bids. The price line looks really good with the crossing at $100. If it remains above the line at $100, then it is more likely to bring in more potential buyers.

Friday is coming! A lower price is possible. Please still bid the most you would be willing to pay and certainly do not lower your bids.

At the rate that $85 is moving to cross the line, that might take 2-3 days, but we're down to the last 24 hours now.
Still very thankful for $90, but an extra $5 here, $5 there, it all adds up, considering how many Open Pre-Pub orders we all have. I'm probably going to have to cancel some of Pre-Pubs I wanted, to afford the other ones.
Also thankful that FL has book studies for 4 books of the Pentateuch! Hoping they can get someone to teach a Numbers book study! (Also as their Mobile Ed catalog grows, I would be interested in book study certificates for sections such as the Pentateuch.)

I hope there won't be people who leave an unsuccessful slightly lower bid and miss the deal.

There are going to be hundreds of people who have unsuccessful lower bids. $90 is too rich for lots of people.

Keep your bids in $110 or more , it could go down to $80 .

ANY bid $80 or above could drive the price down to $80. However, bids below the current price of $85 might lose out.

I was going to bid on it but I got seasick watching the sample video [+o(] That man has some incredible balance. I would have certainly fallen off that chair.

I couldn't help but chuckle at your comment as I too found myself turning a wee bit green while watching the sample video. But I was attracted by what he was saying and am hoping that Bruce and Faithlife will notice how distracting (distressing?) the swaying can be, and make adjustments to lessen that as they move into recording for the full production. But if they don't (or aren't able) to do that, I'll still give it a go, knowing I can return it if I can't keep my lunch down when watching. [;)]Ryan said:Keith Pang said:More bids on OT300 please!!

The scale on OT300 needs to be moved to allow lower bids. Right now $190 is the lowest we can bid.
