Original Language resources for the non scholar

I have the Bible Study version of Logos 4 Mac so it's original language resources are minimal but sufficient for my knowledge level of them. What would you recommend as additional must haves for someone who wants to be able to look a little deeper without having to be a greek or hebrew scholar?

The next obvious step (Logos resource wise) is to upgrade to Scholar's. It will give you a good start with Hebrew/Greek resources. I also recommend Hebrew for the Rest of us and Greek for the Rest of us for those who can't go through a traditional grammar course.

As one who has had Scholars Silver, and has the "Greek for the rest of us" I'd second both of these suggestions...

I appreciate your suggestions and I have looked into upgrading but for almost $400 - 600 for the two lowest scholar packages, I don't need all the preaching and ministry resources that are in them and are padding the cost. I would like a package option that just includes some of the more basic language and ancient text resources at a reasonable price.

"preaching
and ministry resources" causing the high cost. Those resources are
also in the the Leader's Library which is just $60 higher than the
Bible Study Library (at non-discounted prices). I suspect the
licensing fees for the quality language tools and texts are the bulk of
Logos costs for the Scholar's Library. As it is right now, upgrading
is your best option. Just buying a couple language resources
individually will equal the cost of the upgrade to Scholars.I see Tom suggests the original languages library above, but I didn't think there was an upgrade path to that package? Maybe there is. hmmm

There are two upgrade paths http://community.logos.com/forums/p/4961/47100.aspx Unfortunately, you cannot move from Bible Study/Leaders to Original Languages. It's possible that the sales department could come up with a custom upgrade price, but it's not something you can do from the website (last I heard).

I took your advice and called the sales department yesterday and am now the proud owner of the original languages package. I did get a deal from them that was a little cheaper than retail so I appreciate that and with the 12 month payment plan it became very affordable. Now if I can learn to use the resources I have at my disposal I will be elated. The guy who helped me told me about the Armana letters which are included in this package. They are correspondence (political & economic) between Canaanite rulers and the Pharaohs during the 14th century BCE . Interesting stuff. There is also many fragments of ancient manuscripts both biblical and historical.

Excellent. Enjoy your new resources!

Dennis,
I think that you'll really get a lot out of it...Mounce is a really good teacher...if sometimes a little corny in his jokes....
PS: email me for two more resources...I'd rather not mention them here on the forum....

Hey, thanks a lot for that teknia site! Looks really good, even if it's gonna cost me a few book purchases! [:D]
I guess you only want new Logos resources, but in order to reciprocate for the teknia tip, here's a pretty big list of Language Resources, inlcuding several languages and stuff from online resources to actual courses. It's just a directory, but it lists some interesting stuff if you are passionate about languages. You can also get your own stuff listed if you have any website that you want to share.
