Is it just me? How many times do I have to go through the stupid indexing in the same day?
Was there was an application update that required a restart?
What you can do is pause indexing before restarting, restart the program, then let it index. It should eliminate at least one of the times it indexes.
At present, it's definitely not optimum, but the program doesn't know if you're going to immediately restart or not, so it has to do the first index for the resource update to make the new resources available, in case you don't restart.
I think one of them was an application update. I'm sorry, I shouldn't complain.
So presently there are 19 resources that have been updated. Great. I'm so happy. Earlier it was 12 resources that were updated. Before that it was some other silly number. Couldn't they have all been done at once?
Now my Disk is pegged out at 100% again.
You may try opening up Tools, open the Program Settings. Down the list you will find Internet. It will contain a button for Automatically Download Updates. It will give you the option of when you want the updates to occur. I have mine set between midnight and 2 am, when I am happily sawing logs instead of trying to work on Logos.
You should change your "automatically download updates" preference to "no." This will allow you to chose when & how often to update.

That's what I do. And it still comes in pieces ... stop, start, stop, start. And any puchase is last. I avoid purchases. Don't want the hassle.
Mobile used to be my bad boy on purchases. Now, he's well behaved, and desktop doesn't get updates.
Thank you.
Well, I feel it in the opposite way: when I receive updates, I feel they have been doing something. And if I have understood correctly, I can keep on working while indexing.
I remember once there was a long time since the last update so I bought something to get an update. Maybe I am terminally crazy? [:$]
I agree with the OP that FL should communicate internally and consolidate the release of their updates better.
FL should communicate internally
I have been saying for a long time FL needs to improve their internal communications.
The updates probably don't affect me as much due to living in a different time zone so I am not using my application when this sort of thing happens more often than not, but I understand how this is frustrating for the OP, particularly if a pastor was trying to prepare a sermon, a teacher a lesson, or a student complete a paper.
If I found it a regular problem I'd make use of the program settings as other posters have suggested to take control of when updates can be applied so it was not be a problem for me.
I am thankful for the updates to datasets, existing resources, the software itself and the release of new resources that are all causes of these 'updates' that havs the potential to interrupt our study.
