Bug: No scroll bar when adding sections to guides; list truncated

While trying to view the list of sections that can be added to a guide, the list has no scroll bar and is truncated (clipped).

The clipping isn't obvious in the first screenshot (not scrolled)

But if you try to scroll up to see additional sections, "Systematic Theologies" is clipped, and the rest of the list does not appear.

This issue appears to be affected by the window height, and less of the list is available as the program's window becomes shorter. Here the list is truncated at "SoundFaith" and you can't see "Systematic Theologies" when trying to scroll further.

7.7 SR-1 (7.7.0.0018) on macOS 10.12.5 (16F73)

    Sorry Petah

I must be misunderstanding what you are trying.  :-(

When I go to add sections I get this panel...

What method are you using to get your version.

Same OS and version as yourself.

    Sorry for the confusion.

What you're showing is the Guide Template Editor that appears when you select "Make a new guide template."

I wasn't trying to make a new guide. I am clicking on the "Add" button (top right) in an existing guide that is open. I can't scroll the Add dropdown menu to see all the section choices.

I understand (perhaps) although my experience seems to differ from yours!

When I truncate the size of the window the dropdown simply expands past the bottom of the window to show all the available options.

If I try and trick it by moving the window to the bottom of the screen then the 'dropdown' becomes a 'fly up'.

    Interesting!

(Yes the screenshots were from two different computers - the second one is from the stable mac)

Ah. I didn't shorten the window very much. When I make it much shorter, the dropdown does extend past the window, but is still abruptly truncated at "SoundFaith." There are no selections past that, and the dropdown isn't scrollable.

But I see now why you and I apparently have a different experience. It looks like you're on a desktop at a much higher screen resolution, and I'm on a 15" Retina MacBook Pro that looks like 1440x900. (Resolution set to "Default for display.)

The screen resolution is apparently constraining the size of the dropdown, and my entire sections list can't be visible at once.

The first of my screen shots is off an 27in 5k iMac but the second (fly up) is from an 11in MacBook Air

I doubt that you Retina machine has less real estate. (BTW details from 'About this Man - display tab'

The MacBook Air only has to display 19 items on its list (which apparently can entirely fit on its 11" display). The larger list of 45 items entirely fits on your 27" but not on my 15".

If you try displaying the longer list of sections on the MacBook Air, I think you'll run into the same issue as me.

Guides in Windows OS have a scroll bar, so no need to compare screen size/resolution!

I like macOS too much to leave it for another OS [;)]

Kudos to the people who are able to make Logos run on so many different platforms and devices!

You are correct Petah. When I tried setting up a new guide the real estate on the MacBook was to small to display the full list and I found exactly the problem you reported.

Thank you for getting me to understand the process. I hope the developers now have enough information to resolve the problem ].

Thank you for helping to determine that it's the screen height, not the window height, that mattered!

Hey everyone! Thanks for digging into this for us. We have a case written up on the issue.
