How's this possible?

Turns out I have two copies of Calvin's Institutes, one Logos and one Galaxie. The Galaxie one doesn't show up in the library, but I stumbled on it when I got a search hit on it, so it IS in the index. Any suggestions on how to fix it so it's back in the library? (because I actually want to hide it).

Maybe there's just something wrong in the metadata that doesn't affect the indexing. If so, only Logos could tell us.
I'll assume that if you look for the title in your Resources folder you'd find it. Why not try deleting it directly? If Logos re-downloads it maybe it will show up in your library. Worst case is you are no better off for trying.

Since you just discovered you had it, could it be that annoying? Anyway I guess I'm more interested in why it isn't showing up in your library than what seems to be a minor issue of inconvenience. Specifically, are there other resources hiding somewhere but not in the Library view?
Not to say what you would like to do isn't the best...

Me too... I deleted the ResourceManager.db and restarted, and it's currently rebuilding the library (I think). We'll see when it completes.

Nope. It's still not in the library. I thought that would fix it, but no.

Some of the Galaxie Journals have caused a lot of challenges with both indexing and and downloading -- ie. having a different version of the resource on the L3 ftp site as oposed to the L4 download source.
And sorry, no that is not any answer, but it is why I'm holding off purchasing these journals until these "Journal" related threads start to disappear from the Forums.
Sorry, Todd. And yes, I think the journals would be a wonderful resource to have if they were able to "play nicer" with L4.

I for one have not had any trouble with the Galaxie journals in 3.0 or 4.0. I received and loaded the Volume 12 collection just about 6 weeks ago and no problems.

Same here, I installed Vol 12 during the same time frame as well.

The problem with the journals is when you go to the Galaxie site and download newer updated files than what Logos has on their server. If you "wait" for Logos to catch up then you won't have any problems. With Galaxie being a third party I think there will always be lag time in Logos having the latest files.
Right now Galaxie has some journal files that have been updated for L4 that Logos has not put on their server yet. When I put the updated files in my L3 and from there ran the "scan now" command to import them into L4, I had a periodic problem with L4 trying to update my newer files with older files from their server. Other than that I have had no problems whatsoever.

That leads me to believe it is a tagging problem in the resource. Logos will have to respond on this one.

Thank you Bobbie:
This was the "problem" that I was referring too. It appears that you have been able to work around (the conflicting dates) which cause it to want to continually download/update files

Actually, I do have the journals (just vol 1-5), and they work fine for me in L4. It's just Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion from Galaxie that's acting weird, and I wouldn't have noticed it except for the double search results (I prefer the Logos version because it's tagged better and doesn't have the wide margins).

The program contains a small, hard-coded list of resources that are (almost) exact duplicates of each other, and automatically hides (what we consider to be) the inferior copy (if the better copy is present).
To hide the second copy (that doesn't appear in My Library): open it from the Search, then drag the resource panel's tab into the "Hidden Resources" box in Program Settings. (Drag the tab, just as you would when moving the resource to a different position in the layout.)

Very interesting. Thanks Bradley.
Although, if you're going to partially hide it automatically, wouldn't it be better to truly hide it automatically (i.e., remove it) so that it doesn't get indexed either?

Actually not completely - the current ones are at Galaxie and also at Logos ver 3 ftp site. So if you update your ver 3 with Logos' latest version of the files, you get ones later than ver 4 has, which if then ver 4 scans the ver 3 resource folder, it will get into an endless loop of trying to reconcile that.

Actually, Logos ver 3 ftp site is not up to date, there are currently three journals that are more current on Glasxie's site. That's the reason why I downloaded the updated ATJ, CTJ, and CENQ journal files from the Galaxie ftp site. Also it does not get in an endless loop, but it does try to update my newer files once in a while.
My solution is to let it download the files it wants to, then I delete the files from the download directory, after I delete them I then click on the add resources button in my task bar. Of course nothing is changed, and Logos 4 is fine after that.

So there are two problems. The GS_BSAC* journals (Bibilotheca Sacra 1-90) are current on the L3 ftp site but not the L4 server. And other journals are more current at Galaxie.
