This is an exciting new free basic package from Logos for students, faculty, and staff of colleges or universities:

https://www.logos.com/academic-basic

My question is what resources and features are included in this package?

Thanks Faithlife for releasing this!

I would like to know what this includes, and what it will unlock for me, especially with the biblical languages. It would be useful to be able to see a side-by-side comparison with the package I already own.

If you already own a base package, I doubt you would be gaining much.

As of now, the "get free" button is clickable even when it's grayed out. This might be a bug. Although I won't complain. [A]

Anyway, I got 8 new resources. (I own L7 Bronze)

Updating my "free" Faithlife account (sum of all orders is $ 0.00) included Logos 7 Academic Basic (plus resource updates of previously "purchased")

Thankful for substantial usability that does not require financial outlay. Thankful for "free" account that can be used for demonstration and quick access.

FYI: Primary account has many more resources along with Now membership.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

With Logos 7 Academic Basic, you’ll get:

    • Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew lexicon
    • Lexham Bible Dictionary
    • Septuagint (Lexham English and Swete Greek editions)
    • Lexham Hebrew Bible
    • Greek New Testament (SBL)
    • Lexham Textual Notes
    • Abbot-Smith Greek Lexicon

The Abbot-Smith Lexicon is a nice public domain addition. Prof. Hurtado recently wrote about this lexicon on his blog: larryhurtado.wordpress.com/2017/07/12/a-handy-nt-greek-lexicon/amp/?espv=1

Is this a comprehensive list? Does it not include many of the resources included in the regular Logos 7 Basic (e.g., KJV, Easton's Bible Dictionary, The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, etc.)? See https://www.logos.com/product/136022/basic

Also, I wonder if like the regular Logos 7 Basic download the books in this academic download are "access-only"?

Faithlife, can you clarify what is included in this product?

This list isn't comprehensive. When I added it to my library I received 2 resources that I did not already have. The New Commentary on the Holy Scripture that I received is not on the list above.

Yes, the books you don't already own will appear in your library with a "temporary" license. As you know, those "access-only" books won't count towards dynamic pricing.

But as it has been pointed out, you may own some or most of these books already, depending on which base package you purchased.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

That was a good idea David! I did so and here is the list of all the included resources according to Robert Elmer at Faithlife:

    • The Abridged Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew-English Lexicon of the Old Testament
    • The Lexham Bible Dictionary
    • The Lexham English Bible
    • King James Version
    • The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
    • A New Commentary on Holy Scripture Including the Apocrypha
    • The Lexham English Septuagint
    • The Lexham English Septuagint: Alternate Texts
    • The Old Testament in Greek according to the Septuagint (Alternate Texts)
    • The Old Testament in Greek according to the Septuagint (Apparatus)
    • The Old Testament in Greek according to the Septuagint (Apparatus for Alternate Texts)
    • The Old Testament in Greek according to the Septuagint
    • Lexham Analytical Lexicon to the Septuagint: H.B. Swete Edition
    • Lexham Hebrew Bible with Morphology
    • The Greek New Testament: SBL Edition
    • Apparatus for the Greek New Testament: SBL Edition
    • The Lexham Textual Notes on the Bible
    • Abbott-Smith's Manual Greek Lexicon of the New Testament
    • Faithlife Study Bible
    • Easton’s Bible Dictionary

There are a few items not included here that are included in the regular Logos 7 Basic (e.g., Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible, The Pilgrim's Progress, Confessions of Saint Augustine, DIY Bible Study, etc.). So, it would be advantageous for any new users to download BOTH Logos 7 Academic Basic and Logos 7 Basic.

As I was corrected earlier by Mark Barnes in other thread, "any users" are not supposed to have access to the Academic Basic, it is restricted to university students, faculty and staff

Just an unrelated note that before any academics purchase any other resources to add on to their free Academic Basic package, they might want to first purchase the Biblical Languages base package.

The reason being is that it doesn't offer dynamic pricing, so you wouldn't get a discount for anything else you previously bought/owned.
