Not really tip or trick but useful to note anyway, the three circles in the visual pane bar are coloured according to the number of items you have selected.  For example I only have 1 visual filter on two circles are white and 1 is coloured.

Small but helpful at a glance information.  What might be helpful is if each colour is representative of a particular filter.  At present I can only seem to get it to white out the bottom left circle for one resource not on and the bottom right for two resources off.

I  just discovered that the reference box (Navigation box) is much more helpful than in 3.0!

In 3.0, if you were reading Romans 8 in the NIV and wanted to jump to Romans 10, you would have to type "Romans 10" into the box. In 4.0, you simply have to type "10." Or if you want to specify a verse, "10:3" etc. It assumes you are in the same place unless you specify otherwise. This is a great feature for quickly jumping around.

EDIT -- Actually, if you're in Romans 8 and you type in "10", it will take you to 8:10. It's even more precise. To switch chapters you do need to type 10:1 or 10.1.

For some reason if you are in chapter 1 of a book and you type "2" (or any other number) into the ref box, it will take you to chapter 2 (or whatever chapter number you chose). But if you are in any other chapter, the number typed into the reference box will take you to the verse of that chapter.

When I'm in chapter 1 of Romans, Genesis, 1 Peter, etc.  and type "2" or another number, it goes to the verse:  Romans 1:2, Genesis 1:2, 1 Peter 1:2.  As soon as I type the number in the reference box the drop-down says Go to: Romans 1:2.  I wonder what we're doing differently?

    Melissa,

Well, I don't know how this all works, but here's what I'm finding. If I Ctrl+G to Gen 1 --- Acts 1 and then Ctrl+G and type "2", it will take me to Gen 1:2 -- Acts 1:2.

    Starting in Romans - 2 Peter, if I Ctrl+G to Rom 1 then Ctrl+G 2, I go to Rom 2 --- 2 Pet 2

I didn't check every book, but Revelation works like the first set. Ctrl+G Rev 1 Ctrl+G 2 --> Rev 1:2.

Further, if I scroll around in the book first, and then manually scroll back to Rom 1, then pressing Ctrl+G, 2 takes me to Rom 1:2.

Ok. I think I have found the reason for all this! If you open a Bible (or at least the NIV) and type Ctrl+G, Rom 1, the reference box displays "Romans 1" without a colon and verse number. From this spot, Ctrl+G followed by any number will take you to the chapter. However, not all books work lilke this. For some reason if you type Ctrl+G, Gen 1, the reference box displays "Genesis 1:1-31" not "Genesis 1". Once the colon and verse numbers are displayed, pressing Ctrl+G, then entering a number, will take you to the verse. So it all has to do with how the passage is displayed in the reference box, whether it is displayed with or without the colon and verse numbers.

I hope that makes sense. It's kind of difficult to type about :)
