Logos, Please tell me if there is a chance we would get Carta into Logos this year?

Maps have been the "failing point" in Logos software for a few years now. Even though there are some of us who keep informing Logos/Faithlife that there is a need for improvement in this area, it doesn't seem like the message has gone through. That maybe due to the fact that Logos has determined there are other areas that need improvement or perhaps areas that need to be started. If so, that is their decision.
I just need to know if there is a chance that we will get Carta into Logos, this year or even ever? If not, then I need to get my maps somewhere else.
Thanks for answering my question.

Since this is a user forum (which is only occasionally viewed by Faithlife employees who may or may not even be in the department that would make a decision about your request), Have you posted the idea in UserVoice? I just searched "Carta" at that site and it appears that the idea hasn't even been raised.https://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-7
If this issue is important to you (or any other issue that any user would like Faithlife to consider) then post your idea in UserVoice and create a shortcut to a thread in the appropriate Forum Topic so that other users can support the idea. Each user gets 10 votes and can use up to 3 of those votes on any single idea. Some users will re-visit their thread of interest and "bump" it daily so that it reappears in users' feed, in an attempt to enlist support for their idea.

Maps are coming. There is a preview in the web app. I don't yet know what they type of features they are going to offer. For now the best features are in Accordance.
Carta is a different thing and there is DEFINITELY a place for Carta right along side the builtin maps, whatever they may look like. Carta offers a lot of commentary to go along with their maps.

I didn't wait for carta to be available in Logos. I got Sacred Bridge recently on sale and other resources they have available through Accordance. Their Atlases are excellent and their introductory series is great too.
I also got BAR on sale and the Archeological Study Bible (which this Bible is a Zondervan product so I'm surprised is not available in Logos).
Maybe if carta came over to Logos it would lose its picture quality; hence, FL doesn't want to mess with it (Reversed psychology 😉 Ego poking 😜 anyone? 😁).

Ps. Great resources, maybe someday they'll make it over to the Logos platform.

David? Huh?
I am supremely confident, users at Faithlife itself have the same question (since at least one Faithlifer confirmed their own strong interest). Given that the question has studiously been not answered, I'd assumed it will continue to be studiously not answered. And I'd assume voting for no-can-do draws votes from probabably-can-do.

But Logos Maps aren't that great as is.
Even if Logos Carta did lose some picture quality, I imagine its other benefits would still be an improvement over what we currently have for maps.
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

There's a UserVoice URL for the program, and a different UserVoice URL for book suggestions. Searching one won't return results from the other.

After a false start in Logos 6(?) with a new Atlas, they went back and redesigned the Atlas using vector based overlays for routes & places. It's previewing now in the web app. Go take a look:
https://app.logos.com/tools/atlas/JESUSLASTTRIPTOJERUSALEMUPTOTHETRIUMPHAL-EN
It's much neater. It's much faster. And it lays the ground work for better features which I hope we will soon see like clicking/right-clicking on place names(!!!), choosing multiple overlays, density of places shown, etc. They haven't committed to any of that but the groundwork is there and I hope they'll take that next step. But it is a huge improvement over their first attempt. And they have said it will be coming to the desktop app at some point.

So's we don't get confused, 'maps' and Carta are separate animals. Carta does include a traditional maps book, which looks similar to the Logos Atlas (detailed maps relative to the Bible). But it's magnetic draw is Sacred Bridge and other similar volumes. They combine maps, original language discussion and archaeology. I included 2 examples. The thumbnail image (and detailed maps) double-clicks to a full zoomable image.
And Randy's ideas WOULD take Logos beyond Carta's traditional maps book.

Hey David,
I know that this is a user forum....I've been part of this forum since its inception. But I was hoping that someone from Faithlife would response, since I am going to have to take the plunge into Accordance (which is something I don't want to do), if there is no plan for Logos to ever get Carta into the Logos software. I have been waiting years for them to improve the Maps (which Carta does have along with the author's commentary) and there hasn't been much progress. So, I was hoping to hear exactly where they stood with this issue.
And yes, I think I voted on the Carta thread as soon as it became available.

It's tempting but I'm still waiting/holding out to get them in Logos. As you say, it is a real shame that they are not available. These are very important works for Bible study.

There is consistently silence from Logos on this. I don't know what that means, but it means something. I've been pushing for Carta for years.

I too am disappointed that no one responded from Logos. I have been a faithful support/buyer of Logs since CD Word and am heavily invested in Logos software. I have felt that I am too invest to switch to competitor software. But when I see Carta being offered, and at a discount, then I may have finally reached the point that I have to switch over. This is making me very sad.

They should at least say, "Hey we're not interested in carrying Carta products" or "Unfortunately, there's no negotiating with them." No details need to be given only a no, is not possible at this time or in the near future. But to not even bother to say anything, that's very strange. Oh well, I already have the Carta resources I need, so no worries. I just feel sorry for the ones holding out for Logos to some day carry Carta products.
Good night!

Me too! And Carta Jerusalem customers are a pretty loyal bunch, who tend to be very loyal to the authors. Me, for example, I'd buy anything Logos sold that was under the Carta Jerusalem brand or anything by R Steven Notley!! Carta's published work is first-rate scholarship, always!!

At one point it looks like the folks at Carta were in favor or at least posted no objections
https://community.logos.com/forums/p/25757/451828.aspx#451828
I thought FL had posted recently in one of the threads a general non-committal response, but I can't find it.
If you need it, don't wait. I believe in loyalty, but not blind wholesale loyalty. I believe in getting the job done, so if you need it, go get it and don't feel bad about it. I love FL but their system doesn't always work in our favor, understanding that there's a lot more that goes on behind the curtains that we're not privy to and that they may have valid reasons from their viewpoint that they can't disclose.

Thanks, Randy! I did have a look-see and response time when using the maps on the web app does seem snappier (faster). One thing I encountered though when changing maps is that the legend explaining what was on the map would be right for the first map viewed, but the legend didn't change when switching maps. So for example, the first map viewed was about "Jesus last Trip to Jerusalem" and the legend displayed related to that map. But when switching to other maps (e.g. "Abner Switches Sides and Dies" or "Biblical World -- United Kingdom", the legend displayed didn't change--was still the legend for the map titled "Jesus Last Trip to Jerusalem".Randy W. But I expect the legend issue is a small wrinkle and easily fixed. It's nice to have the maps respond faster and hopefully that will carry over before too long to the Atlas when accessed from the desktop version of Logos.

Long time outstanding Faithlife customers are buying Carta from other Bible Software companies because Logos does not carry it, and Logos shows no interest in carrying Carta.
Faithlife refuses to speak to the situation. I find that very strange, very strange indeed.
There may well be good reasons. The publishers may be impossible to fairy deal with, etc.
Yet Faithlife says basicly nothing while some of their best customers add another Bible Software program to their computer. Once that is done, there is a good possibility that customer will buy other products on sale for that new Bible Software program, rather than Logos. After all, the program is already on their computer, and they are familiar with it. They are also already use to alt-tabbing between Logos and the other program. It is not that big a deal to do so. I know because in another similar situation, I have added a second Bible software program to my computer. (To my disappointment, they do not carry Carta either. I will buy it from the Logos or my second Bible software program, whichever carries it first. Or, I may give in and add a third Bible software program to my computer in order to have Carta.)
I think Faithlife would be wise to address the request for Carta, even if it is to explain why not. After all, I was amazed how fast the Adrian Rogers Sermon Library made it to Logos after that other company had a big sale on it.

Is this what you mean by Carta? https://mapcarta.com/Kavala
I am not sure what "Carta" is, but I know I am frequently frustrated by Atlas.
For instance, just now I am studying Philippians and the traditional place of writing is Rome, but it's disputed so I want to see how far Rome is from Philippi and maybe some roads that would be taken by Epaphroditus, but you have to play around forever looking at different trips by Paul trying to find one with Rome on it.....there has to be a better way. Unless I am missing something......it's possible. I have used Atlas very little.

No, Carta is the publishing company in Jerusalem and they have lots of maps, atlases, etc.
Here is the link to their "bookstore."

They have a lot of Ritmeyer's books as well, which I have hard back copies, but would love to have them in electronic format.
And yes, I too am frustrated with Logos' Atlas. I bought Logos 6 primarily for that feature and was so disappointed.

I will do that Graham, thanks for your reply.
I can see that map, I guess it's good if you are looking for that specific journey, but I can't see Philippi on that page, even when I pan around. I would love to type in a biblical city, see it come up and similar to the "timeline" be able to overlay other data on it. So add Rome then over lay roads connecting. Maybe data on est. time to travel these roads ......Maybe other events that happened in the area, Perhaps biblical events that happened there......
I will start another thread....
