New Windows option in 7.9 to make Logos faster
In our efforts to improve the performance speed of the application we have added a new option that needs to be manually applied. This process should only be done once per software update (i.e. you do not need to do this again until 7.9 SR-1 or 7.10 is installed on your machine).
To run the new performance command line:
1. Run a Command Prompt for `[logosinstallpath]\Logos.exe /ngen`
2. Click on Yes for changes to be made on the pop-up
To undo this process:
1. Run a Command Prompt for `[logosinstallpath]\Logos.exe /unngen`
2. Click on Yes for changes to be made on the pop-up

The only "downside" to doing this is that you have to remember to do it manually after every update. There is no real trade-off here.

What kind of increased performance are we looking at? 2 or 3 seconds faster startup or what?

If this means users are doing a manual change to their registries on their machines EVERY TIME Logos updates the program--really?! Why not just fix it for users/customers so that the burden is not on them.
And the good news is I have an ssd so I have no complaints as to speed. But am thinking of others.

Because the feature is still in progress. Expect more developments in the next release to make this not be a manual requirement. We figured it was better to ship the manual method now than wait on everything in a later release.

Yes, it should, although not as dramatic. Pretty much there's no real reason not to enable this if you are willing to manually enable it with every update.

For those that want to use a quick link from logos to do this:
1) Create a *.bat file in the logos.exe directory.
2) Paste this inside file
%~dp0\Logos /ngen
3) Save
4) Create a link in logos on toolbar

Okay, please forgive my ignorance, but what is the exact command I paste into Command Prompt? I tried the whole above shabang and individual parts without any success. I'm sure it's pretty simple, but if someone can humour me...

I assume that IS the exact command... but you will have to change "[logosinstallpath]" to YOUR specific Logos install path. That will be unique to you, so it will be difficult for us to give you something to copy & paste. See Philana's screenshot above under that point for clarification.

Not working for me! Guess I don't have ngen.exe on my instalation folder? Any ideas? I've already copied Philana's command line as it appears on the the tread

Right click on your Logos shortcut.
Click Properties on the menu.
Copy the text in "target" (for me it is C:\Users\Pastor\AppData\Local\Logos\Logos.exe".
In the command prompt, paste that followed by " /ngen".
Hit enter.
Run Logos.
Be fast.
Be happy.
To add the refinement mentioned by Pieter, I would just open Notepad and paste the script (C:\Users\Pastor\AppData\Local\Logos\Logos.exe /ngen) into it and save it on the desktop as LogosSpeed.bat. From now on, you can double click that with each new Logos update to take advantage of the speed improvement.

Yes. I had the same problem trying to follow her command line. After several hours I finally got it to work when I found out where Logos.exe was located. Do a search for Logos.exe and then make sure your command line takes you there and try that. Mine wasn't under ...logos\logos.exe but under ...logos5\logos.exe

Tried multiple ways. A different UAC window pops up. Running Win 10 Pro. Popup does not say ngen.exe. It says something else. I don't recall now.
But, it does something very quickly then Logos opens just as slowly as normal -

We'll need more info on the command you used and what the popup said. It should say ngen.exe. Other than the UAC, you will see no other indication. Logos will launch normally.

Sure! I've tried the exact syntax of the original thread, changing my Logos.exe location as instructions, but only had an error message.
