app sign in required?

My wife has a Samsung Galaxy 3 Lite tablet. I installed both the Logos app and the Faithlife app. Whenever she powers down the tablet, a sign in is required by both of the apps. We used to have a Galaxy 4 and I don't think it behaved that way. I have a Kindle Fire HD and it doesn't require a sign in, nor does my Samsung Galaxy J3 smartphone. Is it a tablet setting that is requiring the app sign in or is it hidden somewhere in the app?

I don't use Android, but the app should not continually be requesting log in credentials. To the contrary, the app does not have the ability to sign out... which indicates that something is wrong. Out of curiosity: How much free space is on the device?

She's out right now, so I can't answer at the moment. I just checked her Logos and Faithlife profiles and they are only 20% complete. The Faithlife profile has all the boxes checked, not good I'm thinking. Her tablet is listed in the Logos profile.

Well, this has been interesting. It's an 8gb tablet with 3gb free and an empty 32gb SD card. I deleted a bunch of apps and was able to use both Logos and Faithlife apps as long as I didn't power off. After powering off, I had to log back in to use either app. Then I removed both apps and started over. I went to Google Play and found the Logos app. When I tried to install it, it said it was not compatible with your device. Same with the Faithlife app. When I attempted to install them anyway, they just hung up. What is the correct app for the Samsung Galaxy 3 Lite? Is there one? How do I get it? Thanks, Dale Heath

Try adding the faithlife account directly to the device (settings >> accounts).

If that doesn't work, operation tabula rasa might be worth a try: remove the phone from your faithlife device list (https://www.logos.com/account/devices) and then delete and reinstall all faithlife apps.

Thanks, Jan. I'll try that. The current Logos app requires android 4.4, while mine is 4.2. No standard updates available. Evidently I had installed the apps before this requirement and that's why it was sort of working.

There is information on the web about doing a forced update to 4.4. The technical language used is something I'm not familiar with. In the meantime, I've installed the Faithlife app on her smartphone, a Galaxy J7, and she's happy.

If anyone has done a forced update to a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, please send me a link.

All traces of the tablet are erased from the account and all traces of Logos and Faithlife are gone from the tablet. Neither app will install. It looks like a forced update to Android 4.4 is the only solution, unless Logos has an old version available that runs on 4.2.

Google Play doesn't give you the latest compatible version for Android 4.2...? That's sort of annoying... I believe FL might be able to enable download of the old version through Google Play. Maybe they'd do that if you ask nicely.

I've never done any forced Android updates, as you'd lose warranty and support status (but maybe that'd be quite irrelevant for an old device such as the Tab3...)

The J7 is an awesome device. I have the very same one. Maybe keeping the app on the J7 would be a much better option. You know you can insert a large memory card, format it as adoptable storage, and copy your entire library on it? (Warning: the memory card gets sort of "locked" to your phone memory, and FL doesn't officially support it -- it still works great though! I inserted an ultra fast 256 GB memory card, and downloaded everything including all my mobile ed videos onto it.)
