Alternative to Logos and Faithlife apps

The Logos and Faithlife apps require Android 4.4 and my Samsung  Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is stuck at 4.2. Are there any other apps that are great at running NIV Study Bible (offline) for a reasonable price? The few free ones I've tried were awful.

Thanks, Dale Heath

The only good options I know are Olive Tree which also requires 4.4+ and the soon to be released Accordance which will likely have similar requirements, but I have no knowledge. So they wouldn't work on your phone and both require purchasing a small package to get where you want to be, but they are your only real options for offline features other than reading.

My recommendation would be to look at new tab. I think they have some of the Lenova Tab 3 8" on sale at Walmart for $70-80, the 10" for $100, or the newer Lenova Tab 4 8" for $130 (Someone asked me to look up something cheap but good a few days ago, so those prices should be right.) Those come with Android 6 or newer. Another option is a refurb.

You might also look at the Kindle Fire 8" - these run the LOGOS apps. I would get as much memory as you can afford.

Agreed. Kindle Fire is the killer device of all budget tablets. No other device I know of provides that much power for money, and Amazon is massively better at keeping the Android version up to date (or rather FireOS, which is the same thing anyway...)

Yes, I've been running my Kindle Fire HD 8" for 2 years now, except it has gotten kind of slow, especially on powering up. Is there a way to get it zippy again?

I sent an email to CS about my wife's Tab 3 Lite, but no response. I'll call them next week about getting a legacy app for android 4.2. I've looked at the custom ROMs and have decided against it. I wonder what it's worth on eBay?

Black Friday is a great time to get a Kindle.

Special $25 discount for Prime members.

    $55 for a Kindle HD 8" 16gb with ads, $70 without ads.

$100 for a Kindle HD 8" 32gb without ads. Very tempting.

Arrange a battery replacement with Amazon CS. I don't know how much they'd charge for it, and whether it'd be worth doing. Maybe at a local tech store they could do it for less.

Often it is a memory problem.  If you are not using a microSD card, do, and move as many apps as possible onto it. Note, LOGOS will not use the SD card for the program or for files, but if you move other programs and data over to an SD card, it will free up memory.  Another helpful trick is to do factory reset of your fire.  This will free up memory, but you will need to reinstall your critical apps.
