better pen support

Hi there.

Thanks for you effort in making Logos. It's a great tool.

I have a suggestion. Add pen support. When i'm reading a book and want to underline som words or line it would be peace of cake to do it with my pen(I'm using a Surface Pro 3). Now the pen just works as a mouse. The ability to underline text without being sent to the "notebook" would be great. - Really great!!

More like when I'm reading a "book book".

Hope you would consider my suggestion.

I agree with Christian. I would like to see this feature and I requested it about a year ago (I think). Being able to annotate a text in a natural, fluid manner with a digital pen (Surface Pro, Apple Pencil, or Wacom device) makes for a much better reading experience that, for me, helps increase my creativity.

Bill Anderson rightly points out that you can already select text and highlight it or copy it etc. with your Surface pen. However, this is because Logos recognizes the pen as a mouse, not as a pen. The pen-as-mouse recognition is almost useless since it is redundant (the mouse already functions better as a mouse) and one could more conveniently use their finger as a "mouse" rather than the pen. The value of the pen as an input device comes from using it as a pen functions in real life. What Christian (and I) would like to see is Logos support "inking" input, as Microsoft has come to call it.

The two big computer manufacturers, Apple and Microsoft, have realized that this is an input method that people really like. One of the most successful smart phones on the market has a digitizer pen as its biggest selling point (Galaxy Note). Dell, Lenovo, and others make laptops/hybrids with pen support. I realize that right now the cross section of people who make use of inking features and use Logos is probably very small, but as more and more products move in that direction I hope Logos decides to make use of this feature too.

Having said that, I want to point out to Christian that while you can't currently do inking in Logos, there is a work-around for "inking" up your Logos books.

1. In Logos copy the section of text you want to ink (e.g., John 8)

2. Paste that into OneNote (I use the following organization structure: Notebook: "Books" > Section: "Bible" > Page: "John" > Subpage: "Chapter 8")

3. Ink away.

Right now this works very well for me. You can also use it on Kindle books, although their copy limit is more restrictive. You can always use Microsoft's snipping tool if you run into the copy limit. Here is a sample of the end result of snipping from Kindle and inking in OneNote:

In the above example you can see how the OneNote method actually has some advantages that very likely wouldn't be available even if Logos did support inking and which aren't available in other inking applications: you can paste other clippings right next to your notes on the primary text. In the example above, I've pasted the relevant information from a footnote right next to main text. This is also extremely useful when cross-referencing different works.

My workflow is to use the Copy Bible Verse to quickly copy into Word. Then I format the way I like and print a PDF which I then use on my iPad Pro in my favorite inking app for PDF docs and note taking, Metamoji Note. Not ideal, but works.

In orientation settings of the desktop centre for your tablet there is a check box for using windows ink, have a try Turning Windows Ink on or off .

I have a xp-pen star g430 graphics tablet without screen to take notes , Windows Ink and XP-Pen drivers play nice together .
