Hi Graham, when you say 'Add Clipping' did you mean you already highlighted some text from a resource and then clicked the link? If this is the case please be specific with what resource and what was highlighted. From what it looks like you cannot just use Add Clipping from a new Clippings Document without open resources

    Hi George

You are correct that I did it wrong, should not crash though...

My logic was, I want to add a clip, so I add a new one and then copy my clip to it!

So should Logos 4 have said not data selected rather than crash?

Yea something of that sort. The idea with this (though I like your logic) is that you highlight the text you need and then add that clipping. I'm interested in your repro steps, if you could please specify which resources you were viewing and how you managed to use the 'Add Clipping' link, was it just enabled, or did you highlight something particular?

According to the devs, there was a recent bug where some sympathetic highlighting or search hit highlighting was misinterpreted as a selection the user made and would allow clicking the Add Clipping, is this what happened? And yes it should not crash, but to keep us safe we made sure each problematic situation did crash so in the end we can have an overall more stable program. As you may be thinking, it should allow add clippings even from a search hit, so this kind of situation helps us discover what's right about our bug fixes.

    Start Logos 4

    Open New Clippings File

    (Note Add Clipping is Inactive)

    Open NASB via Command Menu

    Add Clipping Button Activates

    Press Add Clipping

    Logos Crashes

I have attached a log file

    I can confirm:

    Description

Highlight text and clicking "Add Clipping" on a Clipping document causes the program to crash

    Repro

    1. Open Logos 4
    2. Open a book (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the NT - 1 Peter)
    3. Open a clipping
    4. Highlight Text in book
    5. Select "Add Clipping" on clipping document

    Actual Result

    The program locks, then crashes.

    Expected Result

The selected text would be added to the clipping.

System Specs (if using multiple computers or not in your signature)

    • Windows Vista SP1 desktop, Intel Core 2, 2GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 7300 LE

    Comments

I have reproduced this twice. The program does not crash if I right click the text and add it to the clipping from the rt. click menu.
