Collections in Vyrso, please?

I'm sorry if this has been asked. Trying to search the forums searches all the forums making it useless. But that's not actually my question/plead!

I'm a Kindle user. I organize all my books into collections. The collections all appear on the screen so I can pick the one I want and see what's in it. I can see which books are not in a collection yet.

I've been told before that I can get a similar categorized result by tagging all my books and searching on the tag. Now that sounds like a great solution if you're a programmer (and I am), but not if you're a normal user who would have to memorize their tags and manually search them one by one and oh gosh. And I don't want to wear my programmer hat when I'm reading books.

Please, can we just get one level of collections so I can organize and better know the books I've paid for? I don't care if it syncs to the desktop Logos app or goes anywhere else except Vyrso. Please?

I don't understand your question, and am also wondering if things are confused by your use of "Vyrso." By the later, do you simply mean the Vyrso mobile app? Is there a reason you singled that particular mobile out in distinction from the other mobile reader apps?

Zak, it is true that you cannot mimic the collections view of Kindle in the faithlife apps (Vyrso and Logos Bible). Tagging and searching is the only current way to approximate what you want and it really isn't the same.

Usually suggestions are best made in the Suggestions Forum. I don't know if that is true for the mobile apps, but it seems that's what you are doing, submitting a suggestion, so if you don't get much response here you might post the suggestion there.

Lexical organization of our resources is a general issue in need of a elegant solution. Current practice of manually organizing by user controlled tagging has up to now been the adopted strategy of FL.

I would suggest no change in the present tagging approach, but consider a stacks approach to displaying resources like a real library e.g. Church History, Christology, Theology, MobileEd (further organized by category), etc. This approach could be offered as an option to the existing level of organization.

As for Vyrso I would be in favor of a user controlled level of organization separate from the Logos library. Keep in mind I am addressing my comments to the desktop version of the software. When I read on the go, I already know what book I want to read by identifying it on the desktop version.

I agree with Mark this thread should be moved to the Suggestion forum.

I continue to be baffled by y'alls use of "Vyrso." Do you mean to write "As for the mobile apps, I would be..."? Are you using "Vyrso" as a placeholder for ALL of the mobile apps? Or do you mean something completely different (i.e. Vyrso [edition:e] books)?

I don't know... The "best" forum is the forum where "the right people" see it. The devs DO pop up in here from time to time, and have asked for suggestions, so I think this forum is perfectly fine. Plus it allows for a conversation with other users. Which leads me back to the OP and my confusion:

What does "one level of collections" mean? What is meant by "goes anywhere else except Vyrso" mean?

Within the Vyrso app is there / can there be a better way of organising resources? This is the basic question/suggestion being put foward. Not sure what is baffling about that.

Tagging requires you to first start with the desktop app, and go through all of your resources and tag them. It is only after you have tag the resources can you then go to the Vyrso (substitute mobile reader app if you like) and then have to remember all of your tags. This requires multiple applications or levels as OP had put it.

OP likes how from within Kindle app you can simply create a collection and add resources to it. There is no need for tagging in a separate application. There is only one application needed or level as the OP has put it and I understand.

This question/suggestion could be applied to other mobile reader apps but for the OP the Vyrso app is the context of the post.

I only use Vyrso. I don't know what all is out there. Sorry. I use Logos and Vyrso on my iPad. Vyrso when I'm just reading so it'll keep my place in the book.

What does "one level of collections" mean? What is meant by "goes anywhere else except Vyrso" mean?

One level means a hierarchy one level deep, like Collection Name->Books. Multiple collections, each with multiple books. But no collections within collections.By "anywhere else" I mean that I don't care if these collections are visible within Logos. I just would like them in Vyrso.

And I didn't just make this a suggestion because I've been burned before finding out there was a way to do it. If it's a useful suggestions and there's somewhere to move this, then please do.
