I began receiving this error while trying to open/run the Logos 7 Basic program on a non-admin account in Windows 10.

Running the Logos program as an administrator caused the program to open, but then it also created a new, complete copy of Logos 7 (including downloading all of my Logos books) in my admin account.

SOLUTION:

Here are the steps I took to solve the problem.

1. Uninstall Logos.

2. Delete all Logos folders in C:/Users/<User Name>/AppData/Local (This applies to both non-admin and admin accounts)

3. Log into the Windows ADMIN account.

4. Download and install Logos 7 Basic.

5. When the Logos program runs for the first time, it will download all user-owned books. (This can take up to several hours.)

6. After all user-owned books have been downloaded, close the Logos program.

7. While still in the Windows ADMIN account, create a shortcut for opening the Logos program and place that shortcut onto the desktop of the Windows NON-ADMIN account.

8. Sign out of the Windows ADMIN account and sign in to the Windows NON-ADMIN account.

9. Now in the Windows NON-ADMIN account, use the shortcut created in step 7 to open/run the Logos program. (The admin password will be required.)

I just wanted to share this info in case any other Logos users encounter this same problem.

  • I neglected to mention that it may be necessary to enable the Logos program to run as an administrator. To do so:

1.Right-click on the Logos shortcut on the NON-ADMIN account desktop and select Properties.

    2. In the window that opens click on the Compatibility tab.

    3. At the bottom of this window click to select the box for Run this program as an administrator.

    4. Click on OK to close the window.

  • Running the Logos program as an administrator caused the program to open, but then it also created a new, complete copy of Logos 7 (including downloading all of my Logos books) in my admin account.

Elevating privilege is one way to work around permission issue(s). Faithlife support has a Crash page for Windows => https://www.logos.com/support/logos6/windows/crash with items to check. If crash persists, then diagnostic logging => https://www.logos.com/support/windows/report-problem should be helpful in researching crash cause. Event viewer may also be helpful.

Logos and Verbum are designed for use by a non-admin account.

FYI: Faithlife may move this thread to Logos 7

    Hi Gregory,

Do you have an application called, Advanced System Care installed? Some people that have that software have had this problem, and been able to work around the behavior by right-clicking the Logos desktop icon, clicking "Troubleshoot compatibility", click "Try recommended settings," and "Test the program. . ."

If this does not resolve the problem, uninstalling Advanced System Care should resolve the problem.

There is a forum thread over at IObit's forums with users who have had other programs affected by Advanced System Care, and you may get a work around without uninstalling the software from there.
