Suddenly, when I start up the app, it is crashing if I do not have wifi or 3g. On edge or with no net at all it tries to start up and fails.

Attached are the last three crash logs.

As part of the startup process, the app checks if it can talk to the Logos servers. This should be very fast, but it can take a long time if, for example, the network interface is up but the DNS server is not responding. iPhone OS kills an app if it does not start within a certain amount of time. It looks like this is the case here; the iPhone thinks it has a network connection but it is taking too long to lookup the Logos servers. There may be some changes I can make to avoid this problem. In the mean time, I suggest turning airplane mode on for 30 seconds or so and then back off to reset the network interfaces. I've had to do this occasionally just to get my phone to work at all because of problems connecting to AT&T's network.

That makes sense because when I am on Edge in my area, there is often very slow net access. Just updating Twittelator Pro can take more than a couple of minutes. I guess there is no way the app can ping Logos and if it doesn't find it within the time iPhone alots just start up anyway with the offline books.

Again thanks for working to make this one of my favorites.

    Dave,

I've often thought that for speed, Logos should start in offline mode. Once the app is loaded, it should switch to online mode if there is a connection. That way, we could browse/read offline books immediately, even if we have a very slow GPRS connection.
