Tablet: Google Nexus 10, Android 5.1.1
I have the Logos app for a while on my tablet, which I mostly use for reading resources. I wish I could use the search function, but that hasn't been working at all yet.
There is a number of issues that I encounter, when trying to perform a search from reading the NIV84. Let's say I'm reading Luke 3 on John the Baptist and I want to find the passage where his head is being asked for. Now a number of hiccups occur, after clicking on the magnifying glass:
- first: instead of giving me a search pane, it tells me: 'Choose a location', followed by a list of verses with the same range of verses that are being displayed on the current screen, in my case: John 3:1 - John 3:12.
This seems very odd to me: why do I need to 'choose a location', I want to find a passage with the words 'head' and 'John'. But there is nothing I can do except choosing a location out of that limited range.
- second: when I overcome this hurdle and choose a location randomly - say Luke 3:1 - then a search pane opens and the it immediately starts searching for that passage <Luke 3:1> as a BASIC search in my entire library.
Again this seems very odd to me, as I don't want to perform such a search and I have to stop it before I can actually make up my own search criteria
- third: after canceling the unwanted search run (by clicking the little (x), I first select a BIBLE search, need to change Top Bibles and select NIV84, leave 'All Passages', type: head John (without any quotes or so) and press the magnifying glass. The search is running now, runs for a long time, then returns 'No results matched your search', while for sure it should return 4 passages:
- I wish a BIBLE search would be the default option, since I guess that will be the most likely scenario, but I can live with that;
- more problematic is that 'Top Bibles' is selected by default, while the most likely scenario would be that some want to search within the version that they currently are reading
- after selecting the right criteria it runs for a long time and then returns no results, while I know there should be results
Finally, I find out that the search gives results if connected to the internet, REALLY?! Is it not possible to run searches offline?! Of course, I've made sure that I am searching in offline resources.
Many questions, is there anything to be offered to make life easier? Thanks!
