Questions on new features

First, overall, I love the new interface. This was obviously a very large effort. So thank you, FL.

Two questions:

1) There seems to be no way to display page numbers for open resources. I opened the same resource in the new app and on the previous version of the app. In the previous version, the page numbers were displayed at the bottom(so the resource definitely has page numbers). In the new version, they are not there; and I can't find any kind of setting to display them.

2) When selecting a resource to open from the library, is there any way to indicate that it should be opened in the existing tab? I'm guessing the answer is "no." If so, that's really annoying. It's rare that I want to open resources in new tabs ad infinitum. As it stands I spend more time managing the open tabs than interacting with resources. Since the tabs zoom out screen has a "+" for opening a new tab, it seems like the default behavior should be to open the resource in the tab you're in and to hit "+" if you want to open it in a new tab.

3) Is there any thought to something like "send search here" or "send bible word study here"? Opening a new tab for every search or for every bible word study again puts me into tab management mode.

Thanks again for the new features.

    Hi Donnie,

    1) If you tap on the screen, the top and bottom toolbars will show. If the resource has page numbers, it should show in the upper-left corner text box.

    2) On the top toolbar, tap on the rightmost icon (3 vertical dots). Choose the first option (Change Resource). FYI, this option was added late in the beta due to user feedback / complaints similar to yours.

    I don't know the answer to 3).

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the reply, Peter.

I'm aware of this, and this existed in the previous version of the app. It's not a substitute for the page numbers being displayed in the normal resource view.

This was super helpful information. Thanks!

Donnie, thank you! I will make sure to pass this along to our team. Glad to hear you're loving the new interface.

    1) There seems to be no way to display page numbers for open resources.

In an effort to simply our reading experience, we cut multiple elements that existed in the old version-- including displaying page numbers. In hindsight, this probably should have remained in some capacity. We're working to incorporate this functionality back into the app.

When selecting a resource to open from the library, is there any way to indicate that it should be opened in the existing tab? I'm guessing the answer is "no." If so, that's really annoying.

We are exploring how to improve this experience based on feedback like yours.

Thanks again, and please do continue to pass along feedback as you have it. Email me at daniel.dibartolo@faithlife.com if you'd like to discuss further.

By the way, what OS are you using? Would you be interested in joining our beta program?

I'm glad to hear that. I can understand a simplification. Page numbers are not optional, IMO.

I'm on iOS 11.2, using an iPad Pro 9.7" with 128GB RAM. I am interested in joining your beta program. Two challenges: a) I don't have much time to try features for the sake of trying them or to faithfully report my experience; b) I'm a deep user of the features I use, but I don't use very many features. I don't use any of the guides. I rarely use Bible Word Study. For me, the app is 95% a mobile reader. I use reading plans (mainly one - my annual Bible reading plan). I use highlights and occasionally notes. I use "Lookup" for work with the original languages. I rarely even use Search because the search results presentation is (IMO) difficult and unhelpful. On the other hand, if you ever start testing offline search, I'm in.

Thanks again. I hope that this very large new release is not a one-time effort but an indication of more innovation to come.
