If I enable compatibility mode I can see the text, but the context menus do not work.

There apparently are some WebGL issues with the stable version of Safari on High Sierra. Have you tried Safari Technology Preview to see if that fixes the issue?

thanks for the suggestion. So this is a common problem with Safari 11 and the Logos Web App? I thought I would have seen more posts concerning the issue. I may give it a try.

I believe FL is focused on getting everything running smoothly on Chrome and Firefox, which hold the top two market share.

Safari is #5 (~3%) on the list, so it's probably not garnering as much support/attention.

Personally, I think it's a web app catch-22. Since Safari isn't fully supported, most people switch to Chrome, leading to a fewer posts about existing Safari issues, and less need for FL to support it.

Hi John, sorry to hear about the issue you're having. In order to further investigate this issue, it would be useful to have the following information:

Click the apple icon at the top left and select "About This Mac". From this, can you let us know the

macOS version, e.g. "10.13.2"
model, e.g. "MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)"
Graphics, e.g. "Radeon Pro 555 2GB, Intel HD Graphics 630 1536MB"

Additionally, can you let us know the version of Safari (e.g. 11.0.2) you're on? (in the "Safari" > "About Safari" menu)

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for the follow up. It does not work properly on two 15" MBPs.

One is 2008 running 10.11.6 running NVDIA GeoForce 8660M GT 256MB.

The second is a 2011 running the latest stable version of HIgh Sierra. Not sure on the graphics as the computer is at home.

The one common item is Safari 11.0.2, and as Petah discussed, I think it is the culprit. Perhaps there is a setting that changed with an update or one that may allow the web app to work, but I do not know which ones it may be.

Please advise anything else you may need.

Sorry for the long delay in response. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to reproduce the problem either on Safari or Safari Technology Preview (most of our dev machines happen to be newer models), although there are few other things we will try to hopefully reproduce the issue.

Meanwhile, if you are able, it would be useful to know if the problem happens with both integrated and discrete graphics or is isolated. You can test this by either connecting an external display and then launching app.logos.com in Safari, or by having app.logos.com already running in Firefox/Chrome (which appears to force a switch to discrete graphics) and only after that running app.logos.com in Safari.

A quick sanity check to ensure WebGL is working in Safari would also be useful (e.g. https://mdn.github.io/webgl-examples/tutorial/sample7/ should display a spinning cube).

The test link worked in safari. The screen shot below has Chrome on the left and Safari on the right. Safari running first and Chrome second. Note the guides populate, just not the text where the right mouse context options are available. Do not have an external monitor.

I found the problem!

Under mac settings/energy saver

The box for automatic graphics switching must be checked. I had mine unchecked. Once I checked it then the app.logos.com worked.

Sorry. I should have said I found my problem on my 2011 MBP. I have a 2008 MBP that does not have the graphics to run the site properly in Safari or in Chrome.

We have deployed a workaround which should hopefully fix the rendering issue. Please let us know if you are still seeing the problem!

Detailed explanation: we managed to reproduce this problem, and it appears to be related to the Safari 11 bugs https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181317 and https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181007 . If so, it would explain why automatic graphics switching might only fix it sometimes--the problem occurs only when running in discrete graphics (high performance) mode, and only on certain Mac models.

We use WebGL to render text onto a canvas, and safari somehow seems to be incorrectly applying additive blending from the rendered text with the white background (in which case, white + any color = white, which made the resource text 'disappear' as everything became white). The workaround forces the background of the canvas to black, restoring the desired rendering behavior (black + some color = some color). We currently only apply this workaround on Safari.
