An Iphone Scrolling Suggestion

Others have requested improvements to the scrolling methods of the iphone so I'll add my suggestion. It's mainly for scrolling the Bible. As far as I can tell, a tap or swipe down tells the app to bring up the verse finder on the top of the screen. We could keep that but also add the following:

Moving your finger up or down on the far right edge of the screen brings up a dialogue box that allows you to "scroll" up or down with your finger to a specific verse in the current chapter.

The same thing could be applied to the left hand edge but it could allow you to scroll to a specific chapter in the current book.

I must admit, one of the things I wish Logos had was an option to scroll. OliveTree handle it so well in their BibleReader. But I question how effective it would be for Logos, given the requirement to download the book data all the time. I'm not sure how big a buffer the app runs, pagewise, but could see scrolling realling being very stuttered as you'd empty the buffer quickly. (I frequently do anyway, if I get a little too tap happy). Of course, for downloaded books, this shouldn't be an issue, though I dare say the buffer limits are hardcoded, irrespective of where the book resides.
One caveat, I'm only guessing, as I don't know how the app works, so this could all be a load of tosh ;)

My suggestion would be to scroll each chapter in Bibles and then "turn the page" to the next chapter. In books it could automatically cash say 5 pages at a time if that is possible. Then you could scroll to the end of the chapter/cached pages and swipe to the next section.

I completely agree. It's because I can't scroll through the text in my books that I don't use this app nearly as much as I use the ESV app or Accordance app which both have text scrolling. Kindle is lacking in this area too. Odd that scrolling through text is standard throughout the iphone yet when it comes to book apps this feature is completely lost. I would also go as far as to say that this is the one feature that has kept me from really loving the Logos iphone app. Even though I like the rest of the functionality, I find it awkward to turn digital pages and not simply scroll like computers have been doing from the beginning.
