"Could not copy files to SD card"
Upon opening Logos (release and beta, as well as Faithlife Study Bible) apps on Android 7.1.2, a fullscreen window opens with this error message: "Could not copy files to SD card" (and no ability to report a problem within the app).
Neither app asked for permissions, so I enabled them manually (Settings | Apps) to no avail.
I do have an external SD card installed with over 100GB free space.
How do I fix this?

To the best of my knowledge, FAITHLIFE has never let their products be installed on an SD card on Android - or an external drive on a PC. There may be ways around this, but I have not seen any discussion of workarounds.
The ability to store resources on an external drive has been requested in the past, but FAITHLIFE has not changed their policy.Blessings,

I didn't say anything about installing it on the SD card. I installed these apps from the Google Play Store and during the first run, I get this error message.

It isn't a "warning"; Logos/Faithlife titled the window, "Error". Please don't eisegete my post. [:)]
I don't know how much clearer I can be: like I said, I clicked "Install" in the Google Play Store--the same as installing any other Android app--and this was the result. There was never any opportunity for me to do anything else.
Do understand that there are two SD cards here: the internal emulated one and the external one (this is how Android works); the error doesn't specify to which it is referring. (It should offer a choice, defaulting to the latter.)
I have 18GB free internally, 100GB free externally.
I didn't say anything about installing it on the SD card.
...but the warning does! For clarification: You were trying to install the app on your internal memory? How much free space is there?
Faithlife folks: was it a good idea to commingle iOS and Android into one subforum? Perhaps adding two technical subforums for each OS would be better, rather than having confusion and having to wade through irrelevant posts when searching for solutions.

In my opinion, no!
Heh...like having a "Predestination" subforum where Calvinists and Arminianists alike can share ideas and help each other! [8-|]
I'm inferring the app is trying to use internal (emulated) SD card storage since it didn't trigger a prompt for external SD card permissions. Does the Android app provide an option of where to store downloaded books, etc.?

I dont think so, but my experience with Android is very limited.

On FireOS (a form of Android), there is a setting which directs installations to the SD card. Your version may be similar.

I didn't say anything about installing it on the SD card. I installed these apps from the Google Play Store and during the first run, I get this error message.
On Desktop have you enabled downloading of resources to the device (in the Library Find box type something like device:A5, where A5 is some part of the device's name). That download could exceed the internal SD card's free space.
What happens if you open the app offline?

I put the phone in Airplane Mode, launched Logos, same result.
As for the other stuff, I have no idea what you're referring to; the app doesn't run at all. It halts almost immediately after launch with no user interaction possible.
If by "Desktop", you mean Logos on my PC, I can't see where it knows anything about the phone; they aren't connected in any way. Since I wasn't able to log into the Logos app on the phone, I can't see how it even knows what my library is, let alone attempt to download/install it.

What happens if you unmount/remove the external SD card?
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling?
If this is unsatisfactory, please contact Customer Service.

FYI. When installed you can go to https://www.logos.com/account/devices to manage device names. In Logos on your PC, click Resource Info icon in Library or an open resource and scroll down to Devices. If you check a box the resource will download to the appropriate App on the device.
So when/if you re-install an app the resources could be downloaded.

Yes, I had to uninstall/reinstall when I switched between beta and release; I did it twice and cleared caches.
I installed Logos on my wife's phone and it didn't give me the error message. It never asked for external storage permission and it hasn't placed any files there, only on internal storage.
I can't see my device on my Logos account since I never got the opportunity to log into the app.
I sent an e-mail to support a few hours ago.

This was helpful to me.[:)]

I haven't heard anything from support yet.
Since 6.0.7 beta is up, I tried it, same result.
Out of curiosity, I installed Biblia Logos 6.0.5 and that works. The problem is, I'm a cessationist and I never learned Spanish. [:D]
It didn't ask for any permissions either, so it must not use external storage at this point.

The worst way to get "official" support, in most cases, is via email. Unless you have a direct contact, it is often futile. The forums are intended largely for "crowd sourcing" support. If you want to get in touch with FL, you may need to call.
