Layouts

In another thread, a couple people mentioned having 30, even 100 saved layouts. I have 6, so kind of wondering if some of you would list at least some of your layouts, just to get a basic idea how you might be using them, and if they might be helpful to me (and others). I do know there area few on video also.

Mine are: 1. DBS (Daily Bible Study) (ESV, NIV, NLT, Notes, bible reading plan, highlighter, prayer list); 2 &3 OT Study - NT study - these are basically the same with greek rather than hebrew resources open (passage guide, exegetical guide, highlighting, notes, 5 bibles, esv a second time with no links, but all links go it, a few commentaries, info, text comparison), 4 & 5 A couple with just a book and notes open, 6 Blank

I think I am probably closer to your style than some of those who have a large number of layouts. I have some basic layouts similar to those you described. What I have started doing recently is saving layouts for current studies I am doing for sermons each week, bible studies on Wednesdays, and sermons I am trying to get ahead on. As I complete a sermon I usually delete the layout I saved for the study of that passage.

If large numbers of layouts work for others that is great, maybe as I get to know my way around L4 more, I will end up with more layouts; but for now what I have works for me just fine.

I'm at 18 but that probably includes a couple I could delete because I'm no longer using them. About half a dozen relate to books I'm currently reading. I keep 3 for the Bible study I teach weekly: one for last week's study, one for this week's, and one for next week's. I have a few for future Bible studies or topics I want to get back to eventually. Some generic ones, in addition to the ones you listed, are:

"Collections": used for adding or modifying collections. Left side has the collections panel open; right side has my library.

"Hide Resources": used for hiding or unhiding resources. Top half has the program settings panel; bottom half has my library.

"Reading Layout": a generic layout to use when I start reading a new book. 3 columns. Left one has 1 panel with power lookup, search, info, and highlighting. Center has 2 panels: Bibles on the top, pseudepigrapha/dead sea scrolls/Josephus/Philo etc. on the bottom. Right hand panel just has a clippings tab. When I open a new book I'll put it on the right hand panel.

Hi Michael,

I have zero layouts (this is L4 thingy), but I do have a lot of workspaces. I have a workspace for each worship service for the RCL. For example, this Sunday is Year C - Lent 2. Thus, I will open up my workspace titled "Year C - Lent 2," and I will have my notes, Bibles, commentaries, etc... opened up to the texts that I will be using for this Sunday's worship.

Section for primary reading
Section for viewing linked passages and other Bible versions
Section for commentaries
Section for linked Strong's words, this is also linked to #5 with C in this case. i also keep my L4 tools (Power Lookup, Cited By, Explorer & Information)
Section for Lexicons & Dictionaries
Section for maps and other general informational books
Section for more tools: Highlighting & Favorites

As you increase your number of layouts, you might find it useful to copy a link to them to your Favorites and organize them there as shown in the image below. You can find more information on linking layouts to Favorites in the wiki Favorites.

Top level folder for my Layouts
Nested folders for Old & New Testaments, with specific layouts under each. You can continue to add and name layouts here.
Nested folder for my general Bible study with nested layout links.
This is a layout where i have 2 windows, top window is the Verb River tool window and the bottom is the Compare Text layout with specific Bibles that i use. (see Verb River wiki)

Joye, you can click on the image and it will get bigger and you can see the resources.. TWOT is the Theological Wordbook fo the Old Testament.. TDNT is the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament.. the rest you can see the short name and figure it out or Steve can chime in and tell you the resources in his layout.
