Is there a quick way to go to a pericope by name in my preferred Bible? (Or any Bible, for that matt

I'd like to be able to find a passage by pericope name (heading text) in the Bible, preferably the Bible of my choice but any Bible that uses that heading text would be fine with me. For example, suppose I'm looking for the story of the Triumphal Entry (called "The Triumphal Entry," "Jesus' Triumphant Entry," "Jesus Enters Jerusalem in Triumph," or "Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King," depending on what version you're looking at).

If I type "triumphal entry" into the Go box on the Home Page and hit Enter, it brings up a whole Layout with all kinds of extra stuff I don't want (PG, EG, 5 Bibles, a commentary, Info panel, and Text Comparison), so it's overkill and is pretty slow. I just want to bring up the Bible text. How do I do that simply and quickly?

I know I could type in "triumphal entry" on the Home Page, wait until the drop-down populates and then look to see what the reference is, then go to my Bible and type that reference in (there are several of them, in all the gospels, that I could choose from). But that seems too much like manual labor. I want a way to let Logos's fingers do the walking for me. And to be able to easily go back and choose a different one of those matching passages so I could quickly read through all the gospels' versions of that story.

In Passage Analysis tool, one of the tools is pericope. It will allow you to type a word (e.g. birth Jesus, or birth samson) and it shows a drop down list of pericopes.

Nope, that isn't what I want, but thanks for mentioning it. I haven't used the Passage Analysis tool yet and one of these days should spend some time learning it.

All I want is a simple way to open the Bible to a particular pericope, given its name (or heading text) in any Bible. Should be really simple in Logos but I can't believe I haven't seen this described yet or figured it out on my own.

Would searching (Basic Search) your Bible get you what you want? Many Bibles are searchable by headings (pericopes).

Sounds like a feature that needs to be added to the Command Bar

either

open pericope to "..."

open NKJV to "..."

per "..."

Something along those lines would be pretty cool, though you would have to know the exact pericope title.

(Not trying to be argumentative, this might be helpful to others reading this post)

The mouse & keystrokes are very close to those of doing this in a Bible passage box (as i am guessing what you want). If one was to keep the PA-pericope tool open, say in their tool window.

1) Click in the passage analysis pericope's passage box, then start typing a word that you might find in your pericope (as you suggested). In the example below transfiguration.

2) You would see Logos4 show pericopes for Bibles in your Pericope Set in a drop down list. Move your mouse down to the pericope that you are after in the list. (shown above)

3) Now you will see your pericope in the pericope tool. Click on this pericope in the tool and it will open your Bible to the location. (image above shows holding the mouse over the pericope in the pericope tool). Image below shows the Bible after clicking the pericope in the pericope tool.

So the inconvenience is that you have to have the pericope tool left open in your tool window.

The extra mouse click, would be to click in the pericope tool.

You would already had to do steps 1 & 2 basically in a Bible window.

EDIT: to view pericopes that you did not click on (e.g. other gospels), simply click in the pericope's passage box (it will appear again as shown in the 1st image, without having to type anything)

Mark's suggestion for a Basic search using the heading:searchterm works.

You can also do this from the HomePage.

Thanks, Steve. I didn't take it as argumentative at all. Sometimes I need to be shown something more clearly to get through my stubbornness about trying new ideas that were different than what I'd envisioned. Indeed that tool does look helpful in finding a particular pericope by name, and thanks for taking the time to explain it further. I followed your instructions and I like that.

I do still think it ought to be simpler to just drop down a pericope list (like what's in that Compare Pericopes reference box) from your Bible reference box (or the Command box or the Home Page Go box), and then select one the matches to go directly to that passage in your Bible, but I'll put that up as a suggestion.

Interestingly, I found that when I set the Passage Analysis tool to Link Set A, and then chose a reference from the drop-down list, my Bible panel (which was also on Link Set A) did not scroll to that text. Bug? If it had done so, I wouldn't have needed the second click on the pericope tool to get there. So the only inconvenience (and speed hit) would be having to leave the Pericope Tool open all the time on the off chance that I might want to go to a pericope by name. I don't think I'll do that.

i completely agree. Perhaps they will add this to their list of ToDo for future enhancements. i will most certainly second your suggestion.

i can see this would present a problem for Dev when multiple Bibles are setup with Pericope Sets. But not necessarily an impossible one. (e.g. what do they do when a Bible is in the link and it has no pericope set, etc)

It is interesting how i learn things when trying to help others. i plan on making a mental note of how to do this for times in the future when i want to do pericope analysis on different gospels. Thanks for the question, it helped me learn another new aspect of L4! i have been a slow learner to the fact that my questions may be helpful to others viewing the forum. It is amazing to me how Christ can use a broken tool like me (even in the smallest of ways) to build up His purpose for His believers.
