I have the preferences set to not use red lettering, but it shows up anyway:

To only use Bible software that allows me to turn off red lettering? [;)]

Red lettering started out as a marketing gimmick from print publishers and sadly it's often wrong. For instance, which are the words of Jesus and which are the words of the Gospel writer in John 3:16 ff? It may very well be John's commentary and not Jesus' words. In places like this, red lettering is very interpretive and I'd rather turn this off.

I'm assuming this is not yet available in the Mac alpha.

My red lettering was off by default but still shows up in almost all American Bibles, viz. NIV, NASB, NASB95, ESV, NCV, NLT, RSV, NRSV, ASV, ISV, NKJV, YLT.

Joe, you know Paul obviously didn't use red letter Bibles, 'cos he wrote "All Scripture is God-breathed …" not just the bits in red, brother. [;)]

Thank goodness for the NIV - Anglicised. [:D]

Seriously, though, I have a lady in my parish (Banff, Scotland), not a church member, who only believes that what Jesus said is true scripture, "because it's the Word of the Lord". All the rest she regards as just commentary around it. I have been trying to get her to see that "All Scripture is God breathed …" but of course, (you guessed it) she doesn't accept that verse because the Lord Jesus didn't say it! [:S]

Red lettering, which she has in her Bible, only confirms her prejudice.

My red letter preference is also "no." But with A14 I get the red letters. As was previously remarked, the red lettering is sometimes inaccurate and I have trouble reading pages that are filled with red letters.

I can't turn the Red Letter setting off either. The release notes for A14 did say that not all of the settings were functional yet. Perhaps we've found one that isn't! [;)]
