Bug: importing notes from L3

After importing my L3 notes to L4, my links to external websites do not work (in L4).

Hi Tom,
To clarify, are you saying that external links in your L3 notes are lost after they're imported into L4?
Thanks,

Thanks,
MelissaIt all depends on your definition of the word 'lost.' I can see them, but they are not working.

I've added this to the other issues you're having with imported notes.
Edit: Try holding the Ctrl key down as you click on the link. This is how you follow a link in the note's rich text editor.

The link does work if I hold down the control key. If this is the way the note editor was designed, I would say that this is another example of L4 notes being downgraded from L3. We did not have to hold down the control key to follow a link in L3.

Not a dumb question at all. Here's the info on how to do that (as well as other importing from L3):

When I click the download button on the WIKI I get the following text:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
−
<lbx-custom-toolbar name="Update Notes" category="CustomToolbars">
−
<command-bar name="idD9562E63B27045A7863D9DCD2B427918">
<caption>Update Notes</caption>
−
<item ref="AdvancedRunScript" style="text">
<caption>Update Notes Now</caption>
−
<data>
<advanced-ui ref="AdvancedRunScriptUI"/>
−
<script>
Application.ExecuteCommand("dialog|name=UpgradeAnnotations");
</script>
</data>
</item>
</command-bar>
</lbx-custom-toolbar>0 -
It works in IE8 but not in Firefox.

Well, I got past the customised toolbar, and that worked. But when I typed the command into LS4 "import all" it did a search, not execute a command.
Any suggestions?

This feature is in 4.0b (still in beta testing). If you are running the latest shipped version (4.0a), you won't have that command yet, so it will run a search instead, as it doesn't recognize the command.
If you're running the beta already and it still doesn't work for you, then you're probably putting quotation marks around "import all"; remove those and it should work.

Thanks Rosie,
Is there somewhere I can get the Beta version from? Even if it's just to import my notes, then uninstall Beta to install the finished version on another machine.

Hi Jason, here's how you can get the beta (be sure to read the cautions about it before you do): http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8883.aspx
I'm not sure how well it will work to uninstall the beta and then install the finished version (you're talking about 4.0a, right?) on another machine, whether you'll still have your imported notes if you do that. The data file format sometimes changes between released version and beta so it is likely to cause you problems. That post I linked to above has more info on this.

Thanks for the advise, Rosie. I might wait for the release.
