Back button closes the app.....
Whenever I press the back button, it switches off the app and puts me at the home screen on my phone. Is this something wrong on my end or is this just how the app is designed ? I liked the previous app version because I could select passage guide.. Pick a commentary.. Read it.. Press back.. Pick another commentary... read it.. Press back.. Etc. Now if I press back it just immediately closes the app.

I just tried reinstalling the app. I use the latest android app version for my Galaxy Note 5. I select "passage guide," then click on a particular commentary, then when I press the back button, the app will close out taking me to the home screen.

- Why are you pressing the back button? What are you hoping happens? If you are trying to get back to the passage guide, you need to click on the tabs navigator icon (Two pages icon, just to the right of the Bible icon at the bottom, middle).
- What happens when you long press the back button (not just press or tap it)?

Thanks for the clarification about clicking the tabs to navigate. My goal when I press back is to get to the passage guide. I think it would be good if that back button took me back to the passage guide, like in the previous app version . I guess I'll need to get used to not pressing it.
When I press the passage guide and select a resource and then want to get back to the passage guide, then i press the tabs, sometimes the passage guide shows up way earlier or later on my tabs so I have to find it. So having a back button would just make it faster.
When I long press the back button it shows me a history. Didn' kknow about that feature makes.. thanks

I agree with this suggestion. I have often instinctively tried to use the android back button to move back to the previous tab I was in, and been disappointed to see the app close.

Is that simply because of the old behavior (old habits die hard)? I am not aware of other apps which function that way (with tabs in use).

I wonder if this is a "bug" or the intended behavior of Android. It does not function that way on iOS. If you navigate to several places within a book, does the back button cause it to close, or does it go back to the previous place in the book?

I wonder if the Logos designers were more focused on the IOS users since iPhones don't have a back button.
I know with pretty much any other app I use on Android that the back button doesn't immediately exit me out of the app.
For example, when I am on kindle app reading, I press back and it will take me back to previous screens on the app. The same function applied to the Logos app for the past several years that I have been using up until the more recent major overhaul of the app.
It could very well though just be a part of their design and not a mistake but would be ideal if they removed that function. I'd prefer just to either have the back button take me to the previous tab or have no function at all.

Ya, android phones have a home button, back button, and recent apps, button. So 3 at the bottom of the phone.

Most of the Android phones have capacitive touch buttons built into the actual screen so it actually adds more space. Also, most Android phones that have the physical buttons at the bottom are still more spacious than the iPhone. Check out the galaxy s9 and you will see what I mean. It' really a very helpful feature.

Yes, this behavior makes me crazy. I'm constantly closing the app because I expect the back button to take me to the screen (reaource) I was just viewing, or maybe to the home screen of Logos. If the back button is going to close the app, it should give a warning - see the Sync client for Reddit for a good example of using the back button in an Android app.

If nothing else, after pressing the back button, instead of closing the app, they they can at least give a little message asking if we would like to close the app. I've used other apps that do this.
