Hey!

Anyone using Logos 7 on a new Surface Pro core i5 - the one without a fan to cool? Will the processor slow down from time to time due to overheating.

    Hey!

While I don't have the New SP i5, I used Logos on the Surface Pro 1 with an i5 for 3.5 years then upgraded to SP4 in 2016 (i5 processor) only because I had maxed out the 128GB SSD. I have never experienced a slow down or any noticeable heat issues. I will admit that another forum user "Josh in RI" tried the SP and often mentioned that it was "too hot to hold". So user experience/expectations may differ. I have read no complaints about Logos slowing down due to heat.

Making Disciples! Logos Ecosystem = LogosMax on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone & iPad mini, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet).

I have a Macbook that is passively cooled (no fan). When Logos indexes, it shoots the temps up to about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. My understanding is that at a certain thermal threshold the CPU will throttle back in order to get the temps within the proper range.

What are the specification of your mac? And does it sometimes throttle, when running Logos 7?

     www.notebookcheck.net says about Surface Pro i5 :

In our Cinebench R15 multicore-loop, we noticed a drop after the second iteration already. First, it dropped to 304 points, and then subsequently all the way down to a low of 219 points.

By and large, it remained around 225 for the remainder of the benchmark loop, which means that its performance fell by 33% compared to the first two results.

A cold start of Cinebench did not show this behavior, and the Surface Pro’s i5-7300U even managed to beat the Dell Latitude 12 5285 (i7-7600U) and the Miix 720 (i7-7500U).

Clock frequency fell from 3.5 GHz (first two iterations) to 1.5 GHz, and eventually settled at around 2.3 GHz. At this speed, the SoC reached between 57 and 60 °C (~135 and 140 °F).

I have a very good laptop, Dell In spiron 17" with core i7 and 16 GB of ram, which I use at my office. But when attending biblestudygroups and the like, I would like tablet, that can run Logos 7 without a lot of noise.

Thanks for bringing up the question.  I am wondering whether a SP i7 is wiser to get than an i5.  I would like to get a tablet that can run L7 for preaching and Bible study.  Would you think the i7 would be significantly noisy?

The price will be too much. But I can stil get a surface plro 4 corei5 here in Denmark for a lower  price than surface pro corei5.
