Looking for a Book: History of Bereavement

Hello all!! Asking for a friend - she is writing a paper on bereavement ministry (ministering to those mourning loss) and she’s having a hard time finding info about how bereavement was done by the church throughout church history.
Any ideas or leads? I am going to check some of my counseling dictionaries and books when I get home but am not sure if they will mostly give me modern grief counseling techniques and not so much example of Bereavement in antiquity and through church history.
Thanks ahead of time!

Here's a public domain book from 1890 called A History of Mourning.
There's an entry on "Grief, Bereavement, and Mourning in Historical Perspective" in the Encyclopedia of Death and the Human Experience.
And there's The Ritual Lament in Greek Tradition which has a chapter called "From Paganism to Christianity".

Search idea is for bereavement within comments about 1 Thessalonians OR bereavement article
bereavement WITHIN {Milestone <1Th>} OR ([field heading, largetext] bereavement)
Citation date for McCheyne is 1848. Found a sermon delivered by Jonathan Edwards in September 1741.
Two hundred year old reflections are still relevant.

The Encyclopedia of Ancient Christianity has an entry on Funerary Rites.
The Dictionary of Daily Life in Biblical & Post-Biblical Antiquity, Volumes I–IV has an entry on Mourning and Weeping.
The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church has an entry on Burial Services which is fairly historical.
