Offline Lookup Notes
- Offline Word Lookup works only with Hebrew and Greek Bibles (original language Bibles) with embedded morphology.
- Offline Word Lookup does not work with English Bibles (or any other non-Greek or Hebrew Bibles).
- Offline Word Lookup does not work with Non-Bible resources.
- Offline Word Lookup does not work on Android.
Offline Word Lookup Requirements
- You must have at least one Greek Bible and Lexicon downloaded locally for looking up offline Greek words.
- You must have at least one Hebrew Bible and Lexicon downloaded locally for looking up offline Hebrew words.
How do I find Greek or Hebrew Lexicons to download?
- Open the Library and enter “type:lexicon greek” in the “Search Library” field to show available Greek Lexicons.
- Open the Library and enter “type:lexicon hebrew” in the “Search Library” field to show available Hebrew Lexicons.
How do I download Lexicons?
- Tap on the circular “i” icon shown to the right of the resource then tap the “Download” button.
Supported Features
- Instant offline info popup on Greek or Hebrew Bible word selection
You’ll now get the info popup on selection instead of having to invoke it from the selection menu. Just long or double tap a word and instantly get the original language word info.
- Keylink preview in the info popup
Lemma, gloss, morphological parsing and a preview of your preferred lexicon appears in the popup.
- Keylink lookup
The “Look Up” button now executes a keylink and opens to the full entry in your preferred lexicon.
- Improved info popup for multi-word lookups
The info popup will work for Hebrew words like בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית. . The most important lemma appears by default but you can swipe left/right to quickly view the other lemmas.
- Offline support
All of this works offline assuming the requirements above are met (a downloaded Greek and Hebrew Bible along with a downloaded Greek and Hebrew lexicon).
Questions and Answers:
Q: Why doesn’t the Word Lookup information panel show the lexicon information that I want?
A: If the lexicon definition you wish to see doesn’t appear, please make sure it is a prioritized resource using Logos Desktop.
Q: Can I prioritize a lexicon using the Mobile Apps?
A: No – Lexicon prioritization requires Logos Desktop.
Q: Does Offline Lookup work for the Android apps?
A: Not at this time.

I was not able to use the offline Greek and Hebrew lookup. I have downloaded a Greek and Hebrew lexicon, but was unable to lookup with them offline. Any ideas?

I'm using an iPad mini 4 and with this update I have an issue. At the home screen when I click on my devotional for the day nothing happens. I already have the devotional in an open tab elsewhere but it won't switch to it. Before this update, this worked fine

What happens if you tap the devotional twice?
i have needed to do this if the resource is open since v6 shipped

Tapping twice did not bring it up either. I tried both my devotional and daily reading. I could get it to open if I swipe left and open the reading plan document and then click the link from in the reading document though

The Text Comparison Tool is no longer working for me with this update...it won't even open up.

Some ideas: The resource that you’re looking up words from needs to be downloaded as well, I tried with Lexham Hebrew Bible and UBS4, they both worked for me. It won’t work from non-Greek or non-Hebrew bibles, in case you were trying that, I had hoped that might be included, but that’s not the case.

How do I get the iOS dictionary to come back? It is downloaded on my device and I miss the quick lookups I could do with vyrso books. Now I get weird results from across my library when i look up words

The use of the iOS dictionary was intended when 1) the user was offline OR 2) the resource was a non RI resource, so there was no original language to "look up." I am unsure what the new behavior is supposed to be, but I did receive a number of unusual results when I used "look up." For example, I received hits for the study bible concordance.

It would be nice if there were some instructions on how to use this, especially when the feature does not just work intuitively. I cannot get the lookup to work at all when offline. I have downloaded the proper lexicons (I think, again, no instructions). I also do not know if there is a way to select which lexicon is used for the lookup (pesky instructions again!).

Some form of instruction needed as no clues on how to use this new feature or what it actually does. It is not intuitive
