REQUEST: Resource View Settings store on a PER-DEVICE as well as PER-RESOURCE Basis

Currently, it seems that resource view settings are stored on a per-resource basis across all apps. So the "View Notes" setting on the Android app is mirrored on the iOS app.

This is a problem. Whereas the Notes performance on the iPad is really good, it is woefully bad on the Android app, rendering it pretty much unusable, I have to turn off View Notes on Android. But this switches it off on my iOS apps as well. If I turn it back on in the iPad app, Notes reappear (after a 2 min wait) on the Android app.

What on earth is the point of this? Each device needs its own settings so that we can adjust each app's performance for each device. There are so many factors at play - device memory, processor etc, as well as app implementation that it makes no sense to try to sync this setting across devices.

Is anyone else finding this an issue?

I understand what you are saying but where do you want this per device information stored? If it is on the device and you have to re-install you will loose the data. If on servers then that adds another layer of complexity to sync with servers. Some users will also not like this and prefer this to sync across all devices - they might for instance use a desktop PC and MacBook as their devices. So does an even further layer of complexity get added?

Android/iOS appears to be the issue, so the change is to set it for your apps on your Android devices but not your iOS devices (and vice-versa). It becomes a one-time setting for all apps on a given device OS, so if you change the setting on iOS it won't affect your Android apps . The scope of the current setting is somewhat a mystery to many, so having to change it as needed should not be an issue. For consistency, the change should also affect the other options under This resource (Android) e.g. Bible text only, Community notes.

Yes the issue concerns multiple devices only.

I'm not too concerned about where the info is stored. Recreating the data after a reinstall is trivial really as it takes seconds to apply the desired setting, so local storage would not be a problem. This is the case for so many other app settings in any case.

The workflow was postulated on the basis of a change by Faithlife. You should find that the setting on iOS will sync to all apps on your iOS devices, but will still affect apps on Android devices (and vice-versa).
