Amazon Fire
Logos is extremely slow in loading on my new Amazon Kindle Fire. Any help or suggestions?

I find that the app opens reasonably quickly on my Fire HD 8". It tends to bog down when you've used a lot of different programs - it has to clean up some memory on some of the older programs first before it can open up the new program you've selected.
I find a full reboot every week tends to keep the Fire working at an acceptable speed.

I had a Kindle Fire and loved it other than the fact it was frustratingly slow. You get what you pay for, I guess. I’ve since got a refurbished iPad, which is orders of magnitude faster.

My intentions are to use as a reader with underlining ability. Mostly the NKJV for OT, and ESV for NT. Other than the slow opening, I'm pleased with what I want it to be. Thanks guys!

Gene, about 6 months ago I bought one of the new Fire 8 inch models. I rarely close Logos--just put the tablet to sleep with a close of the cover and it's instantly back when I open the cover. So to test it, I closed out of Logos and reopened. It took a total of 12 seconds, which is very acceptable to me.Gene Britton said:Logos is extremely slow in loading on my new Amazon Kindle Fire. I don't use the tablet for much other than Logos and checking email, calendar, weather, and an occasional web search, so I don't put a lot of demand on the unit.

I feel your pain. Mine's a Kindle Fire 10. It's 1-2 yr old, & its memory is much less than half full on the system & is nearly empty on the SD card. I open with 6 panels, & I've just accepted that 1-2 minutes is all I'm going to get on opening the app if it isn't already open.
I also use the tablet for other things, & I've learned that I need to make sure there are no other apps open before opening either Logos or another app. Most apps don't care, but those do.
And when nothing else seems to help those to, I shut the tablet down & start it again (reboot). That always helps for awhile.
I did notice that someone in this thread suggested leaving Logos open whenever you put the tablet to sleep. When I forget to close Logos, there's no delay at all if it then reopens. Sometimes it doesn't. (At those times, I've learned to reboot.)
I guess I've decided that for the cost, performance this poor on one or two apps isn't a horrible trade-off. I wish I'd known how bad the camera was, though, before I bought one. ALL photos are of poor quality due to the lens. So both cameras are useless to me & I don't use any of its "photography" capabilities at all.
For those who still want to invest in one, I'd also offer that Google's Play Store can be side loaded onto a Kindle. Just search Google for instructions & ignore all Kindle's warnings that all life as you know it will cease to exist if you side load anything or leave the capability accessible.
Many blessings to you!

Bill

Two suggestions that helped me speed up Logos on my Kindle fire 8 HD was to download Cache Cleaner app and Memory Booster Lite app.

Google’s Play Store will have a significant impact on your Fire’s multi-tasking performance and battery life.

Mark,
I haven't noticed any impact on battery life. Why an impact on multi-tasking? IMO, it was never very qualified in the 1st place for multi-tasking, but I haven't noticed anything to be substantially worse than it already was. I've always tried hard to use one app at a time on the Kindle, so... what about Play itself causes a degraded performance? It was the only way I could get to a couple of apps that I really wanted on the Kindle, too.
Blessings!
Bill

To install the Play Store you have to install Play Services. Those services run in the background, consuming RAM and battery. The Fire does a better job than most tablets at reducing the impact of background services, but it doesn’t entirely eliminate the effect. It does depend on what other apps you have installed and what use they make of the services (and whether there are bugs — there frequently are). Some more info (not Fire specific): https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-google-play-services-battery-drain-android/
The important thing is to check your RAM and battery usage to see the impact Google Play services is having. You can then decide whether that’s worth the gain for you.

Make sure you download the book you want to read to the device... then cut the internet connection. You'll find the app much quicker and certainly usable just to read a book. When you have your net connection it is challenged by the number of books, pulling data from the web etc.

Ultimately I solved this problem for myself by purchasing an iPad;)

John's suggested method is my standard mode of operation. I use the Fire tablet almost exclusively for reading monographs, so most of the time I only have 2-3 tabs open at a time in the Bible app and I rarely close the app. I have no need nor desire to use the Bible app on a small tablet the way I use the Logos app on my PC. I suppose this is why the tablet works as well as it does for me.John Goodman said:Make sure you download the book you want to read to the device... then cut the internet connection. I know that this post is for long time ago, but after 5 years, I think you can rethink again on using the Amazon fire.
Something to take into account, is that not only in Amazon is sold you can find a better deal in other retailers.
All the best!Believe is more than a word or a concept, it is an entire way of seeing the live
