iPad delay when viewing bible references in a book
While reading a book, and (for example) there are a string of 5-6 bible references, I want to tap on each one to see the text. This works ok, however when I tap of a verse, it takes 3-5 seconds before the verse appears. It displays a spinner, and then the verse eventually appears.
Now I have checked and can confirm that the preferred bible version is downloaded onto my device. So it shouldn't need to be doing any sort of internet communication, so why is it sooo slow? This is my main problem with the iOS app.

I don’t see the slowness you describe.
Do you get different results when online and offline?
Is the Bible you are using in a split screen in the same pane as the book or in a different pane?

My iPad has a sim card in it, so its always online. Sadly the slowness occurs universally, no matter which pane or panes are on the screen. Does no one else really have this problem? It seems odd that it would just be me. (It has always done this for me, but its just starting to annoy me more and more lately)

Interesting - that could, potentially, be a factor
To test this, try setting the iPad to "Airplane Mode" and see if the slowness persists.

Yes, it turns out that the slowness goes away while in airplane mode, and comes back when out of airplane mode.
Given that I have already downloaded (and set as default) a version of the bible, it doesn't make any sense that having access to the internet slows down the popup box.

Agreed - but we saw something similar when there were recent changes to the way word lookups worked.
So it looks as though there is some network activity taking place - when online - and it is taking some time to respond.
Do you also have a Wifi connection in your iPad? If so, how does it work when you are connected to a good WiFi network?
Hopefully someone from the Faithlife team will be able to comment on what is actually happening here

There has been no response from Faithlife, I wonder, what is the correct communication path for raising issues with the software?

It might help us track this down if you could provide the source resource where you are tapping bible references, maybe some samples of which references this occurs with (any bible reference in any resource?), and what your preferred bible happens to be.

The 5 second delay (with a spinning wheel displayed inside a white box where the verse is going to appear) occurs within any book that has references to bible passages when you tap your finger on one of the bible references.
I am using NASB at the moment.

Hi JR.
Just to say that you are not alone there is a delay when I use the app on my iPhone.
It isn't five seconds but it is a noticeable pause and the little wheel spins.
The ESV is my preferred Bible and it is downloaded.

JR, could you try re-downloading the NASB to see if that makes a difference?
When viewing the NASB, from the "kebab" menu in the upper right, select "Book Info", then "Remove". Once that finishes, "Download" again.

Yep, that fixed it. Thanks.
