Help searching for a term WITHOUT a definite article

I am trying to do a search for all the times in the NT where Theos does NOT have a definite article in front of it (e.g., 'the'). I can find all the occurrences of the greek word for Theos (greek:θεός), but am unsure how to modify the syntax to exclude definite articles. Can someone steer me to the right syntax? Thanks.

Thanks, Jack. That is very helpful. I am doing a deeper study on John 1:1. So, the phrase "the Word was with God" contains the definite article ὁ, but the last part of the verse, "and the Word was God" does not. But when I run <Lemma = lbs/el/θεός> AND NOT <Lemma = lbs/el/ὁ>, John 1:1 does not show up in the results. Shouldn't it since the last part of the verse meets the criteria? I'm new to the more complex searches, so I may be misunderstanding the results.

If I understand how the Search works, the limits for the search are the verse. So if the words in the verse match the criteria, you get a hit. If you want to search beyond a verse, use "WITHIN x WORDS" syntax.

I do not know what features you have, but this is a perfect use for the Morph Query. Go to documents and see if you have Morph Query. If so, open it and then set it up like this. Results are on the left. Note the line for exists is not present for the article. Edit: note my search was limited to Gospels. You may want to run it on all passages.

John - I do have that feature but have not had much experience with it. I'm still learning this great software. That really added a great view and additional insight. I am using the BI161 course and looking at this verse (John 1:1) to isolate how JW's will use this verse to deny the deity of Christ by pointing out that the 2nd part of verse does not have a definite article with 'God' and therefore it should be translated as 'a god' (an indefinite article). But the argument breaks down if you apply that same logic to all the other verses in the NT that don't have a definite article and try to do that same thing. I wanted to see the verses that don't have a definite article with God to look at that but wasn't sure how to set up that kind of search. This really helps to bring the truth to light. Thank you very much (to you and Jack).

This search looks for a Bible verse (OR Chapter in Basic Search) that has θεός while not having a definite article.
