Try to select "Eve" and I get a black circle with a line through it ... I expect to be able to select the word even though it is part of a title

The text is part of a hyperlink, so clicking and moving the mouse is interpreted as dragging the hyperlink, not selecting within text. As a workaround, you can click outside the hyperlink (e.g., before "Discovering") and drag over the hyperlink, although that will select more text than you want.
