Can I change what book a translation is referenced from when hovering over a word and is shown in the Info Tab? I prioritized my library but that didn't seem to work. It always shows the ESV and LEB.
I am not sure I understand your question. Can you provide a screen shot that illustrates what you are seeing.
It always uses the two books circled in red
I was wondering if I can select what books it will reference for Translations
Thanks!!
How do I upload screen shots? I’m kinda new to this, lol
Use the paper clip icon
This suggests that the only Bibles you have in your library - that have associated reverse interlinears - are the ESV and LEB.
What base package do you have? What English translations of the Bible do you have?
I have just the base Logos 7 (free) and the English books are: The Lexham English Bible, Esv, and the Dead Sea Scrolls Bible. Most of my library is geared with Hebrew lexicons, the DSS Database and a few dictionaries like the DBL, TWOT etc.
That explains what you are seeing,
That section of the Info Pane draws from English Bibles in your library showing how they translate the underlying original language word
Well I guess it’s ok like that, I do my own translations anyway. But it’s pretty convenient to have that feature, only if we could select what books it draws from.
Thanks a million Graham for your help.
Thank you for your help.
Thank you, MJ
But it’s pretty convenient to have that feature, only if we could select what books it draws from.
There is no selection. If the bible(s) you want are not showing, you have to purchase them + the associated reverse interlinears. What did you want?
I didn’t know that it only referenced English bibles, I thought I could use my purchased Hebrew lexicons and dictionaries in the translation area. But Thank you all very much for getting me more familiar with the software.
Lexicons do appear in the Definition section -and you can choose which appear there. But to see all of them you would need to run a Bible Word Study Guide on the word and look at the Lemma section
And to expand on my earlier comment.
The Definition section of the Information Tool shows lexicon information
In the Settings dropdown - which appears when you hover your cursor over the top line - you can change which resource is used and how much information is shown
Whereas the Lemma section in a Bible Word Study Guide shows all the lexicons / dictionaries that have an entry for that word
And putting the Bible and BWS into a linkset - I have them in linkset A - results in the BWS being updated whenever you click a word in the biblical text.
If you add a lexicon into the linkset then this is also updated whenever you click a word in the biblical text - assuming it has an entry on that word.
Hope this gives you some different options to consider.
Thank you Graham, this helps out a lot. I’m going to try it out as soon as I can.
