lbxlls vs logos4 extension - difference?

Because the Daniel commentary did not download, I downloaded the file manually and scanned for it. In my resources folder, the Calvin commentaries are .logos4 files apart from the Daniel one (.lbxlls).

Some volumes are .logos4 and some are .lbxlls across my library. Any rationale for this? Does it matter? (Natural concern is the logos4 format is "newer" and we might be missing out some features with the lbxlls files!)

I don't have a direct answer. However I suspect the Daniel volume was an oversight and will eventually appear in 4.0 format.

Clearly Logos had to design the Logos 4 format to accomplish something related only to Logos 4. However I notice no difference in the way Daniel works within this series and how the others (Logos 4 format) function. So I would imagine for many resources the difference is not significant, at least at this point. I imagine that this is why there has not been a rush to convert all the files to Logos 4 format. I imagine all the Logos created files will be in time. The other publishers may or may not.

It would be interesting (not critical) to know what the differences are between these file formats and what the new format allows that the old one did not.

On another thread Bradley indicated that the lbxlls files had a pre-built index in each resource. Logos4 doesn't have one and thus the book files are smaller. So that's one difference, I don't know what the other ones are but presumably they would support the abilities of Logos 4.

I was planning on asking a similar question. If I buy a Logos 3 CD resource (say Tyndale) and they later upgrade the resource to Logos 4 download, will my license automatically transfer to the new "version"? In other words, if later I need to re-install Logos 4 on a new computer, will it automatically pull that resource down with the rest of them or will I have to again install from CD?

You should not have to reinstall. Logos 4 will check your license file on the Logos server and download whatever it finds there.
