1-2 Thessalonians BECNT cheaper than prepublication price now

If you own the 16 volumes of the BECNT that doesn't include the newly released volume on 1-2 Thessalonians, this is the time to get it at a cheaper price than the prepub price. Prepub price was $40 something, but with the monthly product discount, you can get it for $32.29. Awesome deal!

still bit pricey for my wallet. but I think I will wait till it'll get bundled with somethin'. (usually when it gets bundled with somethin, price become $5-$6)

I missed the pre-pub for some reason. It's a good deal and a massive work by comparison to the average commentary for these letters.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. [8-|]

The discount only gives me a mighty $1.12 off.

Not clear what discount applies to this title. Link?

If you own the 17 volume set, then the last volume released should be something like $32.

Yes, I clicked on that, but it shows me a dynamic price of 45.99.
I already have 16 volumes of BECNT.

Not anymore. Looks like it was a mistake. The dynamic pricing is now $45.99, same as the pre-pub price for the new volume.

It may have changed price. I checked last night and it was $32, but I'm showing $45.99 now.

$32.39 should be the correct price with the 30% discount being applied as the Monthly Product Discount. I am assuming that Faithlife is having issues with the discount applying. I would suspect that the price will go back shortly.

You wish!! I was about to go for it, but now the temptation has been taken away!! [:P]

I'm not sure why I would need to wish. It's pretty basic math.

Logos, how about allowing the rest of us to have this book for 32.39? Thanks Dal for bringing this to our attention.

You're welcome, everybody!

That is sad. I added it to my wish list so I would remember this weekend to go back and buy it. It is showing up as 45 something now for me as well. Shame that it appeared to be a month special but must have been a daily special or something.

Yes the website is either broken or misleading - says my full dynamic price is $47 and then there is 30% discount, but the price I am being asked to pay is $45.99 which is not 30% off! I had this in my basket when it was the correct $32 price but just waited to add some from March madness. Maybe Logos can say whether the 30% discount does not apply to dynamic pricing?

You are correct, Jim. The current price does not take into account a 30% discount. Logos is the fuzzy math company.

Thanks DAL for alerting Logos to their "non-mistake". Logos the 30% off SHOULD be applied. Your Pre-pub promise that "the price will never be lower" is a joke anyway. You break it with base packages and you will break it multiple times with March Madness.
I was going to purchase this commentary. Logos you just lost a sale! Stop playing games with us.

Maybe you could now change the title on your OP to: BUG: discount is not applied to dynamic pricing on BECNT

If you are having problems, you might want to give sales a call. Remember, if you own the 16 volumes of BECNT then dynamic pricing should work to add volume number 17 on 1-2 Thessalonians; if it's not working and it's easy for you call or email your sales rep.

Sarcastic! However, I am a more serious about the Pre-pub criticism. Face it. C.S. Lewis may very well be in next year's March Madness and be the winner of the 75% discount. Rather than making the promise that pre-pub prices will be the lowest ever Logos needs to do away with the marketing hype and just offer a price. If people like the price they will purchase, if not they will pass. No need for all this pressure to buy now or miss out on the lowest price ever! Then Logos will not feel obligated to pull discounts out of a false sense of honoring a false promise!

I sent an email to Logos. Logos responded by blaming their commitment made to prepub customers which they brake everyday of the week. Today's Twitter deal is an example. They also claim their agreement with Baker Publishing has "restrictions" on this book.
I suspect Logos may be throwing Baker publishing under the bus so I wrote them and forwarded my correspondence with Logos with a link to this thread.

Great! So, every volume in the series is on sale besides the 1-2 Thessalonians volume. That makes absolutely no sense, nor is that advertised anywhere within the details of the sale. [:#]

I have contacted Baker about this issue, here is what I have written:
Regarding the monthly sale on Logos.com of your product Baker Exegetical Commentary series (see https://www.logos.com/product/46541/baker-exegetical-commentary-on-the-new-testament). The product page quoted mentions that we can save over 30% on the retail price for this set. Logos progressively updates this set to include newer releases from Baker. Most customers only need to upgrade this set by the one book, to the current series but Logos are not showing the same discount offer to upgrade this set as for those who are buying the set for the first time. I assume that this discount would have been global for whoever is buying this complete set, whether they are one book short, or for the first time buyers. There is a blog thread that I would direct you to for what is being hotly contested, all the while there has been no response from Logos on their own blog (see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/101797.aspx?PageIndex=1). The dynamic pricing for set owners originally had the 30% discount applied, but since this was mentioned in the blog thread, Logos have 'pulled the pin'. Is there anyone from Baker that would like to respond on this blog thread?Your input would be much appreciated!Hopefully someone will respond (either Logos/Baker) to this issue. There seems too much silence at the moment.Anyone for toppling the establishment?0 -
I got the official reply from FL that the dynamic price was revised upwards since "since we promised that the Pre-Pub price will always be the lowest price for product".
I cannot understand this decision at all. This is tantamount to saying that I don't get the discount because I already have 16 volumes, but someone who has no volumes gets it.
Also, members should henceforth stop tooting the horn that "XXX is cheaper than pre-pub price now", if this is how FL will react.

Agreed, there is a dichotomy here.

I'm sorry about this. We've been watching this thread and having some conversations about how to solve this.
We have removed the lowest price limit. If you own 16 volumes, you'll now see the discount applied.
We also want to respect those who got BECNT Thessalonians on Pre-Pub with the expectation that they would be getting the best price. We plan to issue Logos credit for the difference. If you got this volume on Pre-Pub, the credit will be applied to your account within the next few days. You'll receive a message notifying you when it's available.

Good. This is the right decision. Saying that pre-pub is the best price remains true, even if you can get a better price later by buying a collection.
However, at least two commentary sets still appear to have a lowest price limit:
Can you confirm that you won't impose a lowest price limit on any Logos collections, and remove any that remain?

The end result is that you received a sale. I'm not sure that I would ever have paid full price for this volume.
On the bigger issue: I buy prepub all the time - just not for this volume when it came out. As a regular user of prepub, I do not see a problem with later having a discounted price. It happens in life all the time. Things change - publisher agreement, market value, etc. In good faith you are usually providing a good price for prepubs. If later you can provide a better price no big deal. Just because someone else gets a better price, why should I be worried if I got only a good price previously (I believe there is a parable about this
)
Perhaps you need to remove the 'guarantee' on prepub to keep people from whining about it later (for sure some will). I believe everyone evaluates price versus value and makes a decision any time they make a purchase. I don't think we need a 'guarantee'. Especially this is true when it artificially holds the price for a volume at a higher than necessary place at a later time. Besides, this 'guarantee' is violated at certain times anyway - March Madness as an example.
Just my thoughts. And thanks for resolving the issue. You have my dollars.

Now that is COOL! [H] Would appreciate if FL could jump in a bit earlier on the thread, though. Even if it is to say we are monitoring and considering the issue and that we would eventually have a result.
But this is great! [<:o)]

I accused Logos on an earlier post in this thread of braking their prepub promise everyday. Although this may be true, I should not of stated an assumtion as a known fact —for this I apologize.
It's in Logos best interest (in my opinion) to not have a policy that garantees their prepubs will not be sold lower.
