Ever since I first downloaded Logos (5) and established a couple of different layouts with different Bible translations, etc ... every single time I go to one of those layouts... it reverts back to the original passage I was studying at that time. I'm in a group study of the book of John. When I first got Logos... we were in John 10.  We're now in John 14. I've tried every "setting" I can find... but... every time I open the layouts... you got it... I'm back in John 10. It's just very annoying.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Mark - and welcome to the forums

Layouts are designed to recreate the state that was present when the layout was created - which explains what you are seeing.

I recommend "updating the layout" which will refresh the position in your resources.

Use Ctrl-Atl-L (or its equivalent on Mac) or the "Update Active" command in Layouts

Does this help?

You have to update the layout for your current position. It is not dynamic. It saves the exact point you were in when you created it.

Faithlife has used poor nomenclature.

  • Their use of "layout" should be "snapshot."
  • "Layout" should be the pattern of tiles (not content).
  • "Project" should be resource location data.

Review & revision of some nomenclature may be wanted. I think this confusion has appeared in other threads.

Very well said.

Suggestion: I want to have more layouts open at the same time.

I've been wondering about this same thing, I'm glad I stumbled upon this post, this is helpful! Thanks for the tip too, Graham!

I just tried it out and it works wonderfully! :) It's especially easy to do if you have your resources linked (Link Set A, B, C etc.) so that you can just change what you're looking at in one or two resources and they'll all update before saving the new locations.

Logos 3 has an option to restart at your closing state.

Logos 3 has an option to restart at your closing state.

So does Logos 6:

I'm pretty sure Logos 5 had that as well, though it might have been named slightly differently.

Here is part of Eli's response:

However, we recognize that enough people want full-fledged projects that we'll have to address this need directly. This is currently about third on my list of large design issues to tackle in 2015, Lord willing.

Maybe, I have never been to Bellingham, but my fiance (wife on the 23rd!) is a Kindergarten teacher, so it is the kind of card I think everyone should keep around. (I take heart that "very poor or bad" is actually the first definition in OED, and infested with lice is the second.)
