I recently read about this puritan commentary, a massive 12 volumes on Job! The author said that what Owen is to Hebrews, Caryl is to Job. Not many of us have time to read the full 12 volumes, but if it was tagged as a commentary in Logos it would be extremely helpful. It would be amazing to get this as a Logos version! It seems that it's almost extinct! I can only find a few volumes online.

The problem is that I do not believe that this work has ever been properly digitised or even printed in a readable font (I am happy to be corrected) so Logos would have to transcribe from an almost illegible print edition.

For some obscure reason (something to do with a low boredom threshold and having more money than sense) I have the 12 volume facsimile edition and I find it almost unreadable.

Yeah it would probably be more like a translation than a digital version ha!

There was talk of this coming to Logos in 2010.

I first Heard about these volumes from Jay Green and have been searching for 50 years.
They were republish by Dust and Ashes Publishing a few years ago and they are wonderful.

Yes the font is a little difficult and the text is not always perfect but the reward for reading
is always a blessing.

Unlike other authors who leave me with the impression that they are smart, Caryl leaves me with
an awe of God.

The Dust and Ashes set was co-sponsored by Reformation Heritage Books.

The set is available at a good discount directly from RHB:

Be aware this is a "facsimile' in old english. Be sure you look at the sample pages before you bite and make sure you will know what you are getting.

Stephen Nichols' 5 Minutes in Church History podcast recently had an episode on this commentary set (titled the 60 Pound Commentary!) and he included this quote from Archibald Alexander:

Archibald Alexander, one of the great Princeton theologians said, “Though this work,” referring to Caryl’s commentary on Job, “possesses great merit, it’s enormous size has been a great obstruction to its usefulness. It has been wittily said that this book is a good exercise of that patience which the book of Job was intended to inculcate and exemplify.”

I have been studying Joseph Caryl -  (An Exposition, with Practical Observations, upon the Book of Job) for over 2 years, and I have transcribed, the necessary texts from Job Chapters 1 - 20 , to a modern typeface in my computer. I have extracted over 100 short Bible studies from the book.

Though they are for my personal use but wouldn't mind to release it to anyone who will package it very well for public use.
