Down here at Macworld and we have a user who is interested in a translation.  The older version was the New English Bible

the new version is called the Revised English Bible

Anyone know of these or if they could be obtained for Logos?

The NEB and its update, the REB, were products of a British Isles multi-demoninational team of translators.  NEB was released in the 1960s, as I recall; REB in the 80s.  They are by no means literal translations; in places the NEB is somewhat eccentric in its renderings -- the REB less so.

I would really like to see these made available by Logos, and would buy them in a minute.  The translations aren't designed for in-depth study of the text, but they do offer one flashes of insight into the Biblical message.  I've got hard copy editions of each translation, and find them helpful for reflection and meditation.

My two cents worth.  It would be interesting to hear what others have to say.

While we're at it, howzabout the original Jerusalem Bible in Logos -- including all the introductory material and notes of the study edition?

Yes, I know of this - it was the translation used in my Old Testament class circa 1966. An excellent translation I still use.

    Revised English Bible

Yes, I know of this - it is one of the four translations in my primary parallels Bible.

Both are out of England, I believe, and I was surprised when they didn't come with Logos.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

You didn't happen to study at California State University in Sacramento did you?  My Old Testament Introduction course by DeWitt Jayne (an artist who began his teaching career at Wheaton College) tought the course and used this translation along with Gleason Archer's Old Testament Introduction.  It was the only time I saw the NEB used in a classroom.  The course was offered at about that time frame.

The REB is available for the other Mac software and has previously been suggested along with the NEB and it's comical rendition of Joshua 15:18 ("she sat on the ass and broke wind") would also be welcome.

Since I'm currently searching for a print JB, I'll add my thumbs up for that to be included as well.

No, I studied at Beloit College in Wisconsin. The professor for this particular course, however, came in from Chicago.

DeWitte Jayne began the art department at Wheaton College before becoming part of the art faculty at Sac State.  A Google search will give more details about his career, but it makes no reference to Beloit College.

Knew it was not likely, but earlier last month a long lost cousin used an unlikely set of facts to track me down after 30 years.  And, as my sermon for tomorrow will point out, if I don't ask, I already know the answer.

    God bless,

    Floyd

I believe that the Copyright is owned (at least partially) by "Cambridge University Press" in the UK.

It has be licenced in the past digitally (to Lion publishing, again UK), so there may be a possibility of getting this digitally again

I would also love to see both these plus the English " Revised Version" which preceded it in Logos format.

Oxford University Press is also one of the copyright holders according to my print editions.

-- including all the introductory material and notes of the study edition?
