Do I understand correctly that it is no longer possible for all Logos installations to switch to Verbum via the command box? As both engines are free what is the logic behind this? I ask because a number of liturgical church users belong somewhere between Logos and Verbum so we need to know what advice to give.

What was changed was that Logos installations will no longer automatically set you to Verbum mode based on your purchase history. You can still manually set the flag, and if you have set the flag on another installation, that flag is still synched to the new installation.
I've updated the release notes.

Thankyou. That makes perfect sense.

As Andrew said, this is still currently possible. However, now that Verbum is available as a standalone application, the command is deprecated and may be removed in a future release.
We do not recommend downloading Logos then using "set verbum to yes" for new installations of the software.

Nor would I. But a forum issue is "I downloaded Logos before I purchased my Verbum package ... do I have to uninstall and reload everything?". And the number of people having both Verbum and Logos packages appears to be higher than I would have expected. To get the full complement of functions when you own both, one has to toggle between Verbum and Logos.

Actually this thread does have me confused. I have Logos 6, Logos Now, and had bought the Verbum Crossgrade. So in this case I actually need a Logos 6 and a Verbum install? That is the recommendation? Does that mean I need Verbum Now to?
Just very confused here....

FL would have to clarify, but that is not how I read what was said. FL makes two versions of the engine (Logos & Faithlife), but the base packages and resources will work in either. As for the "Now" services, you will just need to choose which one you want.

You can have both which gives you more temporary resources each month, but you get the same features in either (software and datasets). The Verbum Now site is misleading as the features are not exclusive to Verbum Now! Verbum Now resources will also be downloaded to the Logos app and vice-versa for Logos Now resources. So, practically, choose one of them.

You certainly don't need to install both Logos and Verbum. Choose the one that is closest to your needs. You don't need Verbum Now if you have Logos Now. Again, you should choose the one that is closest to your needs.
The differences between the Logos and Verbum apps are slight. Verbum has a few built-in collections for the Church Fathers' etc. It tends to assume a larger canon. There may be a greater emphasis on the lectionary, but I'm not sure about that. The homepage will tend to show things from verbum.com instead of logos.com. The topical guide shows stuff from the Catholic Topical Index. But that's really about it, I think.
If you have Logos installed already, but would prefer Verbum (or want to try it out), then you can run the command set verbum to yes. That command works currently, but may be withdrawn in the future.
Logos Now and Verbum Now are functionally equivalent, but will have different 'free' resources each month.

Verbum lacks the internet sermon sites of Logos ... which much to my annoyance are dropped when you open a Logos PG in Verbum ...
