Searching for where God is called Shepherd

Hello Everyone,
I have been searching for every passage where God is called shepherd. I found several with looking at the factbook for God as Shepherd and searching the ESV for these passages with {Section <Culture God as shepherd>}. One that it missed though is Genesis 48:15 "And he blessed Joseph and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,"
Is there a better search query I could have used that would include more passages? I did try searching (<person God> OR <person Jesus>) INTERSECTS <person A Shepherd>. This only returned two verses in John where Jesus is calling himself the Good Shepherd.
Thanks.

I think you have been close. I tried this:
(<person God> OR <person Jesus>) INTERSECTS Shepherd
I got 13 verses, but it doesn't contain Ps 23. So I tried this:
(<person God> OR <person Jesus>) WITHIN 3 WORDS Shepherd
This gives 32 Verses, but with some false hits which you need to weed out.

I didn't know if there were any sorts of special searches for a reference to God where he is called something kind of like searching for a lemma with a specific gloss. Thanks for your help.

Cultural concept search finds many verses:
{Section <Culture God as shepherd>}
Genesis 48:15 is included in search:
(<person God> OR <person Jesus> OR {Addressee <Person God>}) INTERSECTS (<Sense = shepherd> OR shepherd)

We should rely on the Cultural Concept to be complete and accurate as <Person ..> searches will fall short e.g. I think <Person A shepherd> is not intended to be used along with referents to <Person God>, <Person Jesus> except in the restricted sense of the passages you found in John.

I wonder why something like Genesis 48:15 is not included in the cultural concepts search.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your replies.

Probably a simple error in coding which should be reported as such.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Ok. I'll start a new thread and do that. Thanks

Dave is correct: by "referent" we mean that, in this linguistic context, this phrase (or name or pronoun) specifically refers to a given person. Except for a few unusually cases, those references are exclusive: a phrase referring to a generic shepherd doesn't also refer to God.
The Figurative Language Dataset brings in a few other examples where Jesus uses the shepherd metaphor to describe himself (though we've only shipped annotations for the Gospels and a few other NT books at this point).
{Label Figurative Language WHERE Source ~ <FigurativeLanguageTerm Shepherd> AND Target ~ <FigurativeLanguageTerm Jesus>}
See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/134659.aspx for more comments about what is and isn't included in Cultural Concepts annotation.

Thanks Sean,
What I was hoping I could do was find every instance sort of like you can find every instance where God is called Lord with <person God> ANDEQUALS Lord. Where I went wrong is that Lord is used of God like a name where Shepherd is not. I have used Logos for years but still am learning how to do the complex searches. Thanks for your help.

I wish the search was simplified. I cannot ever remember the search formulas, and loathe having to find them. I wish when I clicked "Search" and chose Bible, the software was smart enough to offer these possible searches when it gave the initial result.
Example: Search> "God as shepherd" > Bible > =
Results: Pick one:
- Exact Phrase
- Similar Phrase
- Inference of Phrase

Without quotes, slowly type that into a Basic or Bible Search box and select the suggestion for Culture. Unfortunately, the format is incorrect but you will get the correct format in the Cultural Concepts section of Factbook. Type flood and you will see suggestions for that
So, the basic facility exists but the search format is often wrong e.g. for <Event The flood> remember to enclose it with {Section} --> {Section <Event The flood>}. This bug is known to Faithlife. For <Topic xxx> just use the Topic Guide.

I agree. This is one of biggest challenges with Logos. I just cannot remember the syntax, mainly because I don't do enough complex searches. I wished Logos could search like Google. For instance, if I search Google for "God as shepherd" (without the "), the first hit is a website with 43 verses that talk about God being a shepherd.
But I know that Logos just doesn't have the user base that Google has, so I will likely need to use both:
- Google for fuzzy searches
- Logos (after some syntax research) for precise searches

Doing same search in Logos 7 for Everything includes "Fuzzy Bible Search" for Now members and Cloud+ subscribers that has 102 verses: Fuzzy Bible Search needs online connection plus can return verse results from Bibles not in your Library:
Ranked Library results has entries to consider. Number of library results depends on resources in your library.
Factbook section includes Guidance theme, which has 155 passages:
In Factbook, can click on a verse to open a Bible. In the Bible, can right click to choose theme for searching, which generates the correct complex query for searching Guidance theme with 2,187 verse results:
Refined Guidance theme search by intersecting with shepherd:
shepherd INTERSECTS {Section <PreachingTheme = Guidance>}

Morph Query Builder is easier to use.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am a Now member and tried your suggested search. However, Logos hangs and the search never completes. Here is a sample:
